Hello Community!
Recently users have needed to do $0 pay runs for various troubleshooting or report updating in relation to Payroll Reporting, so we thought we’d give a bit of information on how to do one.
A $0 pay run is basically entering in nil amounts and running the pay so you create an update pay event. Year to date (YTD) figures will pull through to the reports to be updated, which is especially useful as the YTD figures are what the ATO will be paying attention to with the STP reporting.
To do a $0 pay run go through the steps of any normal pay run but enter $0 amounts for the fields. Additional instructions can be found on the post Creating a void pay to send an updated STP report. If you are on AccountRight you can quickly achieve this by setting the Pay Frequency to be Bonus/Commission.
For the YTD totals that don't match check that your Payroll Activity and Payroll Register reports match. Check that all payroll categories have been assigned to the correct ATO reporting categories. You can also try doing a $0 pay for the employees whose YTD's are incorrect to see if that pulls the correct figures through to the verification report.
We hope this provides some clarity and assistance. As always, feel free to post within the forum for your inquiries and support. We appreciate your contributions to our community and are here to help. We know it’s not just business its personal!
Cheers,
Theresa
