As MYOB removed the Payroll Rollover function, I thought I would try a test pay run to see if I could process my payroll due next week. Payperiod ends 30/06/2020 and payment date 02/07/2020.
Yep doesnt' work unless you rollover the Financial Year!!!!!!
Error msg can't process pays.....
Please don't roll over your Financial Year.....
MYOB have advised that the system will automatically update on the 01/07/2020 to allow the payroll entry...
This is going to cause headaches for a lot businesses who have to process payments for the 01/07/2020 ......
Think MYOB should put out a notice about this to all Clients so they are not in trouble next week!!!

Hi @YasminG1
I agree - this message is 'dangerous' - wonder how many will roll their FY hoping this will solve the problem, only to find it doesn't and they can't roll back.

Gavin

OMG! I just got the same message.
Trying to pre date the payrun as I'm on leave next week and there's very limited internet where I'm going.
Last thing I want to do is a pay run for 100 guys while I'm on leave next week.
Looks like I have no choice, thanks MYOB, good job!

Hi @YasminG1 @Neisha and @gavin12345
In AccountRight 2020.2 rolling over the payroll year and uploading the new tax tables is done automatically by the software at the start of the new financial year. As such, you won't be able to process pays with a July payment date until 1st July, when that roll over process will have occurred.
When trying to process a pay run with a payment date in July and the system date is June, you will receive the error message You can only enter pays for the current or previous financial year. This is because the system has not rolled over to the new payroll year, ie 2020-21.
This error message is NOT referring to the financial year in your company file (Setup>>Company Information) so please do NOT close your financial year. We do recommend that users always check with their accountants prior to closing the financial year.
The message is an intentional change in the process, as the system does not allow for pays to be processed in a future payroll year. However, we do understand the wording may cause some confusion and we do apologise for that.
Please do let us know if you need any additional help.
Cheers,
Tracey

Does this mean that we can't future date the first pay run for the next financial year until July1 every year?
So we no longer can take leave on July school holidays anymore?

I am trying to process payroll today for nearly 100 people to be paid next wednesday 1st July 2020
these need to be processed this week as this is far too much to do next wednesday and i am not available to do them next week
are you saying that i have no choice...and that these people will not be paid because someone has stuffed up in myob again at eofyr and not allowed pays to be processed for the 20/21 f/yr until the 1st july i seriously cant believe this is the case.......................

What are we meant to do if we have a payroll that we need to release on July 1 ......surely not wait until July 1

Yes unfortunately.
At least when the Payroll Rollover function was available we could in fact roll over ourselves and just continue with payroll.
At least you have some warning now ....

Absolutely agree which is why I have asked MYOB to put out an email to all clients.
Year end is stressfull enough for some let alone having to worry about this.

This really can't be left like it is - obviously many people have pays to process in advance
