Re: Check payroll details - inactive employees

Thank you Ron.

This would be logical, however, I am unable to go any further with the single touch payroll until the items are fixed?

And the items listed to be fixed are all our inactive employees with no ID's.

Thank you

Glenda

Re: Check payroll details - inactive employees

Hi @GlenRed and @ronatbas and @Suja_P

Here are the ATO's instructions, from the ATO.cov.au page Get Ready for Single Touch Payroll (STP)

How to count your employees

Include in headcount:

  • full-time employees
  • part-time employees
  • casual employees and seasonal workers who are on your payroll on 1 April and worked any time during March. There are exemptions to counting seasonal workers who were employed for a short-time only.
  • employees based overseas
  • any employee absent or on leave (paid or unpaid).

Don't include in headcount:

  • any employees who ceased work before 1 April
  • casual employees who did not work in March
  • independent contractors
  • staff provided by a third-party labour hire organisation
  • company directors
  • office holders
  • religious practitioners.

Directors, office holders and religious practitioners are not included in the headcount. They are not considered employees within the common law meaning of the term.

However, when you start reporting through STP you will need to report their payment information. This is because the payments are subject to withholding and are currently reported in the Individual non-business payment summary.

Moderator: Could we move (or copy) this query and the comments made, to the STP Hub ?

Re: Check payroll details - inactive employees

Thank you Kym, however, what I am trying to do is in MYOB itself.

In MYOB I go into Payroll Reporting and then Check Payroll Details.

The next window shown is a list of errors and it states that all these items must be fixed before I can start using Single Touch Payroll.

The list of errors is a very big list and is all to do with past employees.   Some I am not able to fix.

How do I continue please.

I hope this makes sense please let me know if not.

Thank you

Glenda

Re: Check payroll details - inactive employees

Hi Glenda,

You can update the employees that you're intending on paying, and ignore the past employees that you're not going to pay.

The current version (2018.1) is currently showing active and inactive employees in the payroll reporting, however, in the 2018.2 version, it will only show active employees.

Re: Check payroll details - inactive employees

Hi Glenda

If you click on the "Learn More" in the "Payroll Reporting" feature, it goes through the the steps and it says to ignore that error message and when it comes time to do the reporting it will be fine.
