STP reporting started after 1 July 2018

Hi There,

Our business (medium size) only started using STP reporting the 3rd week in July 2018. The 1st 2 pays for the 2018/2019 financial year were not recorded through this reporting system and do not show in the "Payroll Reporting Centre".  Please advise how we should include the 1st two weeks payroll prior to to enable us to finalise our 2018-2019 payroll data ?

Hi @PB2014

STP updates the YTD amounts each time you declare a payrun, so the first 2 payruns were included in your first STP payrun. You can confirm this by downloading a copy of the first STP report sent in the Payroll Reporting Centre, the YTD amounts should equal the first 3 payruns.

Your EOFY verification report will also confirm these payruns have been reported.

Cheers

Tracey

Thank you @bungy15 I've just downloaded the first report and confirmed my figures and you're correct all the first 3 payrun figures are reflected. Much appreciated

Re this answer    Can you amend the past record if the earlier pays were not standard?

Re: STP reporting started after 1 July 2018

Hi @PeterN1

You can make any amendments that are necessary.

If you need to amend any payruns, make the corrections in MYOB then either do a $0 pay to update the YTD amounts or wait until you declare your next payrun when the YTD amounts will be automatically updated.

You only need to make sure you make corrections within 14 days. If you are outside the 14 days for the amendments you need to make now, don’t panic, the ATO understand we are all learning this year.

The ATO don’t look at the data sent for the individual payrun, they just want the YTD amounts to be correct.

Hope this answers your question

Tracey

Re: STP reporting started after 1 July 2018

Thanks for that but our accountant only surfaces once a month and is otherwise not available to bother doing weekly pay runs.

We currently pay employees weekly by automatic bank debits.   Will he be able to somehow update y-t-d figures when he comes in at each month end?

Re: STP reporting started after 1 July 2018

Hi @PeterN1

STP must be reported before or on the day payment is made.  While there won’t be penalties for late lodgement this year, in future years you will receive penalties. You may need to look at either processing payruns yourself or getting a bookkeeper to do them.

Cheers
