Single Touch Payroll (STP)

Dear sir/madam

To keep phase with the new changes made by ATO regarding payroll reporting, my organisation want to know the requirements to upgrade to a Single Touch Payroll Solution.

We are currently using MYOB Accounts Right Verison 2017.2. Is this version of MYOB Single Touch-enabled?

If not, what is  the version that is Single Touch Paroll-enabled and how much does it cost to upgrade from AR2017.2  to this version?

Thank you.

Best regards

Akuol Deng

Re: Single Touch Payroll (STP)

Hi @Akuol

Welcome to the MYOB Community Forum, I  hope you find it a wealth of knowledge

AccountRight 2017 is not fully single touch payroll compatible at this stage. We did some minor enhancements in AccountRight 2017.2 as groundwork for STP when it does arrive.

In terms of it becoming fully STP compatible, we are just getting this ready to go and further instructions will be available in the near future. See Single Touch Payroll reporting

Kind Regards,

Re: Single Touch Payroll

Hi @Akuol  - here's a link to my recent post under Staffing and Payroll, about Preparing for Single Touch Payroll (STP)

For AccountRight 2017, there's been a two-stage development process for inclusion of STP in the payroll process

- Stage 1 came with the 2017.2 upgrade released last November.

For Employee cards,  there's now an option to validate their tax file number online.

There's also a new field - STP Category (currently set to "non-reportable"). This field includes a drop-down list, to match each of your Pay Categories to the appropriate STP category.

For example, Base Hourly to [STP] Gross Payments, and PAYG to [STP] PAYG Withholding.

Including this feature in 2017.2 allows payroll staff to modify their employee cards now, in preparation for the forthcoming upgrade. Doing this now will help save time later, when the stage 2 upgrade is released

(particularly if you have many Pay Categories).

- Stage 2 will come in an upgrade currently being tested - which will include the STP software.

This should be out by April.

Important: On 1 April all employers are required to count their employees - if the total (including part-timers) is more than 19, you must adapt your payroll, so it can handle STP reporting to the ATO, from 1 July 2018.

(for smaller employers, the "compulsory" date is 1 July 2019 - though they can move to STP from 1 July 2018 if they wish).

Re: Single Touch Payroll (STP)

Hi, can you please advise when you will be updating the software for AccountRight Premier V19.14 in regards ot the Single Touch Payroll. One of my employers does not use AccountRight Live as they prefer this software and will need to do their compliance quite quickly to fall into line with the new legislation.

Thank you.

Re: Single Touch Payroll (STP)

Hi @Gale

Welcome to the MYOB Community Forum, I hope you find it a wealth of helpful information.

AccountRight v19 will not be made compliant with Single Touch Payroll, and we do encourage clients who are able to upgrade to AccountRight 2018 to do so, as AccountRight 2018 will be made STP compliant. If you are unable to upgrade because of multi-currency, negative inventory, multilocation inventory, M-Powered Payments or ODBC reasons, then you will be granted a deferral by the ATO until 31 May 2019.

Re: Single Touch Payroll (STP)

Hello. Would you be able to tell me if our version of MYOB will become compliant with STP, when we receive an upgrade (we subscribe). We work on AccountRight Premier V19.12. Thank you, Pip

Re: Single Touch Payroll (STP)

Hi @Tasland - welcome to the Community Forum !

AccountRight v19 will not be made compliant with Single Touch Payroll, and MYOB encourage clients who are able to upgrade to AccountRight 2018 to do so, as AccountRight 2018 will be made STP compliant.

The move to Single Touch payroll is being handled in several stages, to allow users time to prepare their records.

AccountRight 2018.1 - recently released - includes some STP preparation tools, comprising:

- a new field in each Pay Category, that allows users to do some preparatory work

(which involves matching each Pay Category to it's equivalent on the new ATO reporting system)
For employer's with complex Pay Categories, doing this work now will save time later)

- there are also tools to run,  to check that employee's addresses and tax file numbers are correct.

Doing this "housekeeping" work now will save time later, when the final stage of the STP move arrives

in AccountRight 2018.2 - due soon (it's currently in beta testing, with a panel of AccountRight users).

You can upgrade to AccountRight 2018.1 now and I recommend you do this now
(unless you're unable to, due to  a technical reason as below).

AccountRight 2018.2 should be released by early May.

If you are unable to upgrade because of multi-currency, negative inventory, multilocation inventory, M-Powered Payments reasons, then you will be granted a deferral by the ATO until 31 May 2019.

MYOB should have these features in AccountRight 2018 by the end of 2018.

If you can't upgrade because of an ODBC issue in an add-on you currently use, you will need to talk to the app's developer (the above deferral also covers users with ODBC issues).

Don't forget - the ATO requires all employers to do a head-count of their active employees (full-time, part-time and casual) on Sunday 1 April - or as soon as possible thereafter. You don't have to send it to the ATO - just keep a copy. If you have 20 or more active employees (including part-timers and casuals), you will need to move to an STP-enabled payroll system from 1 July 2018. For those with 19 or fewer staff, there'a another 12 months to make the move - by 1 July 2019 (thesse employers can move to STP from 1 July 2018 onward,, if they wish).

MYOB are shortly releasing a series of webinars and training sessions, for STP.

Keep a look out for an email arriving shortly.

Re: Single Touch Payroll (STP)

Thanks so much! Your answer was much more helpful than calling MYOB who seem to have given me contradictory advice. Thanks also for the tip at the bottom, will do! :-)
