This AccountRight update will help everyone in your business get their work done faster, with better cashflow management, stock control and payroll (for Australian businesses).

Late payers have nowhere to hide

We’ve made it really easy to identify problem customers—the ones who always pay late and have overdue balances.

Head on over to the Cards List window and you’ll see all customers with overdue amounts owing. At a glance you can also see all customers that are on credit hold, disallowing further sales—look out for the alert icon.

Cards List

In AccountRight Standard and Plus, overdue supplier balances are also highlighted.

Drill-down to see more detail

Open a customer card, and voilà, you’ll immediately see the customer’s average days to pay, the amounts due and overdue, and whether they’re on credit hold. You can’t miss it. Similarly, you can keep an eye on supplier payment stats by opening the supplier cards.

Card Information

When you click the arrow next to the customer or supplier balance showing in their card, you’ll see a detailed breakdown of the transactions that make up the balance, like the one shown here.

Analyse Receivables

Record purchases faster

Not available in AccountRight Basics

In previous updates we sped up the sales and banking features you use most often. With this release, you’ll notice that purchases, especially lengthy service purchases, and those without inventory items (that is, items you don’t track on-hand quantities for) now record twice as fast. Stay tuned for faster inventory item purchases in a future update.

Better leave management

AccountRight Plus, Australia only

The most popular request on the AccountRight Idea Exchange has been from payroll officers who want to be notified when an employee requests, or has taken, more leave than they are entitled to.

Good news—When entering an employee's leave hours in their pay, an alert will appear if the amount taken is greater than their existing leave balance plus the hours accrued in the pay period. You’ll also see a summary of what the leave balance will be if you go ahead with the pay.

Leave alert

Here’s another payroll improvement we’ve sneaked in:

Previously you could add a payroll category to an employee’s pay while you were processing a pay run, but the change would only apply to that pay run.

Now you can apply the change to the employee’s future pays as well. Just select the Save changes for future pay runs option when adding the payroll category.

Add Pay Category

Supersonic installation

Keeping AccountRight up to date on your PC shouldn’t be a hassle, and we’re taking big steps to make the update process easy and fast. Our ultimate goal is to make updating AccountRight as easy as updating your internet browser.

We’re not quite there yet, but to help us achieve this goal, we’ve replaced the traditional AccountRight installer you’ve used in the past with a streamlined installer, which we call the PC Installer.

The PC Installer is 50% lighter than previous AccountRight installers, and takes just seconds to complete.

PC installer

Note that if prerequisite software, such as Microsoft .NET updates, need to be downloaded and installed, installation will take more time. Also, Windows XP and Vista are not supported.

Reintroducing the Analyse Inventory (Summary) report

Not available in AccountRight Basics

The Analyse Inventory (Summary) report you loved in AccountRight v19 is back. So now you can print an order book that shows what’s in stock, what’s on order, and what’s committed to customers.

Analyse Inventory report

We’ve also tweaked the ‘Detail’ report, so it should run faster if there are lots of items.

Extend AccountRight with add-ons

Have you visited the MYOB Add-On Centre? It’s the place to go when looking for software that integrates with AccountRight - apps like advanced reporting, billing and job tracking tools, POS systems and cashflow tools that work with your company file information. All these apps integrate seamlessly with AccountRight thanks to the MYOB Add-on Connector.

When you install AccountRight using the PC installer, the Add-on Connector will be switched on for you to connect other apps to AccountRight. You’ll know it’s running, because the icon will appear in your Windows taskbar.

MYOB Add-on Connector

So visit the MYOB Add-On Centre at myob.com/addons and see how you can get more out of AccountRight.

Super payments, super easy

AccountRight Plus, Australia only

When you install this update, you’ll notice a shiny new Pay superannuation button. It’s your first glimpse at our upcoming super payment feature.

Pay Superannuation

What’s so special about it? It’ll be one of the only integrated solutions on the market, which means you’ll pay your super from within AccountRight and reap the productivity rewards.

And most importantly, it’s free with your AccountRight subscription! It’ll also be compliant with the government’s upcoming SuperStream changes, so no matter what, we’ve got you covered.

We’re still hard at work building the best super payment feature we can, but click the button in AccountRight to register your interest and stay in the know—you’ll get updates on the project, and maybe even an invitation to join us for some user experience testing or a pilot program.

Hi @ShelleyN ,

I don't have a full list of issues I can provide, the features that stand out for me are continuing speed/install improvements, and big improvements to do with importing transactions.

I specifically am not aware of any Payroll calculation changes, because I'm not aware of any current Payroll calculation problems.  I'd love to discuss this further with you, if you could send me a private message outlining how your calculations appear to be wrong, I'd love to get to the bottom of the problem with you.

You can send a private message to a user by:

  1. Click on their user name
  2. Choose send a message from the right hand side of the screen.

In this case, you can send me a private message by clicking here.

are you kidding me!!!

Please read my post from 27th November 2013 IN ITS ENTIRETY and then let me kow WHAT HAS BEEN FIXED

http://community.myob.com/t5/Getting-started-with/MAJOR-PAYROLL-ISSUE-needs-correction-URGENTLY/td-p...

I took the time to contact MYOB in November to discuss a very serious problem that is occurring with payroll only to be hung up on

I then posted about this issue and several others that have been pointed out to MYOB on several occassions but have still not been addressed.  All my posts were consolidated into one by MYOB in what I believe was a deliberate attempt to push these issues under the carpet and to keep them away from other users.

I was contacted personally by someone at MYOB who assured me that they had recognised the fault with the payroll and that it would be addressed urgently in an upcoming upgrade

IT IS NOW APRIL - and MYOB has gone back to its usual trick of  not being aware of any problem and certainly not addressed the issue with any urgency

YOUR PAYROLL DOES NOT WORK!!!!

HAS IT AND ANY OTHER ISSUES BEEN FIXED IN THIS UPGRADE?????

Stop giving us bells and whistles when the fundamental basics of your product are seriously flawed and have been since implementation OVER 2 years ago.

I stand by my post dated 13th December 2013 - THIS FORUM IS A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME

@ShelleyN

I see you are now posting from a different username compared to November - please forgive Will for not being aware of this.

We are certainly aware of the Payroll issue that you have been experiencing. It is very unusual and not something we have been able to replicate, even when we obtained your file in for testing, which makes it extremely difficult to address. We have escalated your issue to the head of our development team. We will be in contact with an update very soon.

Many thanks for your patience.

I was contacted directly by MYOB and was told that MYOB was aware of the issue and that it had been replicated at their end.

I was very specific in asking this as I am constantly being told that MYOB is aware of issues and after waiting months for resolution then being told that they are unaware of it.

I specifically asked if it had been replicated and I was assured that it had.

And that is just one issue - what about the rest -  ALL reported AGAIN  in NOVEMBER 2013 and in most cases 18 ,months or more prior

PAYROLL not caculating updating correctly    NOT FIXED

ERROR message when processing Payroll - too many payments have been selected  NOT FIXED

Balance sheet Report not formatted properly and changes can't be saved  NOT FIXED

Customised cheques losing their format when upgrading - FIXED!!! (Thankyou Glen H. the only person who has been helpful at MYOB so far)

Account Transaction Reports showing only debits and not credits NOT FIXED

Entitlement Balance Report incorrect NOT FIXED

Date Seperator Incosistancy NOT FIXED

Alphabetical Sorting in Preview Payroll Detail Repot NOT FIXED

Can't delete payroll without forcing shutdown FIXED(although only tested in ClearWater file)

Not able to process payroll advice report FIXED BUT STILL SLOW - over 5 minutes to get report for one employee for 1 Financial year

Account Selection NOT FIXED

MYOB Deleting Payroll History when terminating employees NOT FIXED

Date Selection when paying Super NOT FIXED

I waited VERY patiently for 4.5 months under the impression that MYOB was giving these issues the full attention they deserve - only to be dissappointed yet again.

I will ask the question again - HOW MUCH LONGER

Hi Jason,

You may want to read my complaints here also.

http://community.myob.com/t5/Installing-and-upgrading/Upgrading-to-new-version-2014-1/m-p/254325/hig...

I also have another complaint. We upgraded out DSL connection last week to VDSL. It has made no difference to the performance of your software. Why is it so slow? If I had the choice I can assure you I would be reverting to Premier 19.5 and running an enterprise server solution. Accountright premier online has left me thoroughly jaded.

Hi @BorisYeltsin

Thanks for your message. Suja has replied to your other post.

I'm a little confused by your references to Premier online as we haven't yet released our Premier version of AccountRight Live. As a general point, we have made a significant investment in improving the speed and performance of the new AccountRight platform in the past 12 months for Basics, Standard and Plus clients. Now that the feedback we have received from the updates is overwhelmingly positive, we will be releasing a Premier version of the new AccountRight next month.

As Suja said, we appreciate your feedback about your experience installing the new software and would be happy to arrange for one of the team to contact you if you need further assistance or want to share the details of the issues you encountered.

All the best,

I've downloaded the new software, now in the 'installshield wizard' it's asking to either modify, reinstall or remove all installed features - which one do I choose pleasse?

Agree with last query - no hints or recommendations in this window - being a novice I would appreciate a bit from MYOB in plain language (step by step) & haven't got the time to search far & wide for an answer.

Hi Jason,

I do appreciate that this is your forum, but your answers are corporate astro turfing of the highest order. Overwhelmingly positive?

I mean't accountright online. Can you please explain why upgrading our business DSL to VDSL has resulted in no speed increase of your software? Performance for everything else we use our connection for has increased hugely. For example, why is it so painfully slow allocating invoices in pay bills?

I agree with all the above comments of other users.  MYOB has been the MOST frustrating experience of my life, and if i had a choice we would go go with other software (which i am now researching).   There are NO redeaming features of MYOB at all and one of the worst accounting software packages that i have had the displeasure of using.  As to the FREE upgrade to for the superannuation BUTTON (really !) you forget to mention that the subscription price has been INCREASED, so the percieved upgrades are certainly NOT FREE.

When this version has been out there for a while and I have SOME confidence that an update will not trash my business again I MAY be brave enough to update.  In the mean time can someone please tell me how to remove that yellow bar at the top that is stealing whats left of the screen real estate on a 15.6 laptop

The usual practice from other programs is its there each time you open the program and has a cross at the far right side so you can dismiss it while you are working. .

Hi @MVann,

I'm sorry to hear that you had some issues with installing the latest version of AccountRight v2014.1. If you have selected the the download for v2014.1 for the first time and it has not been previously installed on your machine, you should not be prompted to Modify / Repair or Remove.

However if an installer for a previous installed version were used you would receive such a prompt.

Also, you will find that after a successful installation of 2014.1, you will be prompted to remove any previously installed versions.

I have included here a link with detailed update instructions

I hope this helps.

Thank you for your feedback, @Eastside.

I'm sorry to hear that you were unable to locate update instructions for upgrading to AccountRight v2014.1.

The update Instructions along with the installer links should be available under My Products >> Downloads option of your my.MYOB account.

The update instructions are not complete. As I outlined in the other thread upgrading your software across multiple PC's and upgrading the company file IS NOT EXPLAINED.

This wasted most of my Monday. Please rectify the situation so other customers do not get as **bleep** off as me.

Thank you for your feedback, Toby / @BorisYeltsin.

The update instructions do have a note that directs to our support note regarding upgrading the software on multiple PCs.

Update instructions note.png

I understand we could make the note more prominent to avoid it being missed by customers. I have passed on your feed back for future updates.

With reference to your comments regarding the speed of the program not being improved since upgrading from DSL to VDSL, we find that there are often other factors that can contribute to the performance of AccountRight Live.

As mentioned in my previous response please do let us know if you would like us to arrange one of our Installation specialists to contact you to discuss these issues with you.

The other factors obviously being limitations in your coding and or your servers.

When will this be rectified?

Also you appear to be lying about that screenshot being included in http://download.myob.com.s3-ap-southeast-2.amazonaws.com/arl/AccountRight_2014.1_Update_Instructions... Can you please explain?

Hi Jason,

We have upgraded our file to the latest 2014.1 Friday and processing our payroll this morning has been a nightmare.

Same issues happening as ShelleyN and BorisYeltsin  (as posted on forum) where you couldn’t change weekly hours worked (ours is pre-set to 38/hrs) to (for example) 40 hours, or the hours would change but the dollar figure would be $0.

Then MYOB crashed 3 times and of course not saving any of the work you had just inputted, very very frustrating when you have more than 40 employees with varying weekly hours and allowances.

Yes, we have upgraded our internet services thinking (wrongly) that this would improve speed and drop out rate of Myob.

Also, leave entitlements not calculating properly and yes we have inputted correctly, yes we have gone through all recommended steps, and yes also had a 3rd party look at this problem in particular.  Should be working, but isn’t.

Posting on the community forum is a waste of time as everyone seems to have problems and no fixes, or when phoning MYOB helpdesk is ‘either unaware of any problems” or “we cannot replicate your problem” and we are left to jumble through as best we can.

But thank you for your email.

Sincerely,

Lucy

We get upstream 10 Mbps and downstream 60 Mbps with a latency of 20ms on every terminal we use for this program.

If you have any other bright ideas why don't you share them with the thread instead of posting things like "there are many factors in your computer environment that can affect performance" which say absolutely nothing.

Can you please ask Suja to reply.

Hi Jason,

If you havn't fixed ShellyN problem after several months, how do you think your team will fix mine which is exactly the same???

Have previously submitted our file to your tech team and the standard reply we receive (as previously stated)  is 'we are not aware of this problem' and 'we cannot replicate your problem'.

Also have had a teccie assume that 'this problem may be imagined'.

Sorry, but myob have an unfathomable distance to cover to get me back on side and have faith in your product.

I am still awaiting for a reply to my question regarding the upgrade PDF.

You have about 30 minutes until I assume that not only is your organisation incompetent, you also flat out LIE to your customers to project an image on these boards that is very, very far from the truth.

Hi Toby,

As a technical writer, I'm part of the team that create the Update Instructions for AccountRight.

I can see the confusion here, Suja has provided you with instructions that were included in the Australian guide. The note wasn’t included in the NZ guide. Sorry to all for the confusion, we'll update this immediately (even making it clearer) and I’ll let you know when it’s done.

The team really appreciate your feedback.

Hi @MarcD

Thanks for your feedback about the message bar. Obviously if you update the software the message that a new version of the software is available will disappear. But I have passed your comments onto the design team that you would like the option to dismiss the message without upgrading to recover some on-screen real estate.

WOW

I am new to this and thought that it was the way i use MYOB that was causing the issues i am having.

Being a small business there is ONLY 1 issue that i whish the team at MYOB would fix

(and i really thought it would be just for me).

With so many buttons and drop downs that you have in your software could you please include a new button.

It would have to read.

"BACKSTEP YOUR CURRENT VERSION TO V 19.5"

Is there anything else i need to say.

Couldnt take the yellow bar across the top anylonger.  Obviously too hard or not important to put a dismiss line of code in. So I upgraded to get rid of it after backing everything up. Very time consuming for an update but went ok. I use a custom library location and the new program didnt find it,  I had to set/reset the location for the new program.  I sort of thought this would be part of an install as I would suspect its a process that a layperson would find difficult.  I am yet to use the program but got this far without too much trouble. Fingers crossed.

I opened MYOB this morning and the upgrade prompt came up. Went through process but the version number has not changed. How do I run the upgrade again?

What issues have been fixed in this version - has the ongoing order to Invoices prblem been addressed?

Hi There

I've upgrade my myob to AccountRight 2014.1, but the screen is all messed up and it's hard to read everything. I'm running windows 8.1. Any suggestions on how I can solve this issue, as it's making things a little hard to read and work with.

Thanks

Hello,

I have not upgraded yet as I have a couple of concerns. I run Windows XP on one computer and Windows 7 on the other computer which I use to access and work on my accounts.

Windows XP is not supported by this upgrade - understandable as Windows is also not supporting this platform any more.

My question is, if I upgrade the computer running Windows 7, will I still be able to access my on line file from the computer that is running Windows XP? My feeling is that it won't work, but need some guidance.

What support will be available for MYOB 2013.5.15, and can us old folk who still prefer Windows XP continue to use our on line file?

Many thanks for your time in replying to the above queries.

Hi @TKA

Thanks for dropping us a line about XP and this release. Hopefully I can shed some light on this for you.

When we stop supporting an operating system (in this case XP), it means we stop testing our software on that particular system. So, while it may still open and work fine, we won't guarantee that it will, and we don't recommend it.

So, in your case, you may find that you can still open your AR 2013.5 file using both your Windows 7 and XP computers, and may upgrade to 2014.1 and still find the same.

However (and this is a pretty big one), Windows decision to sunset support on XP means that continuing to use XP as an operating system may expose you to security issues (and yes, by security issues, I mean viruses and the like).

If you'd like more info - we've written a blog post about it. But basically, for your computer safety and the security of your AccountRight file, I'd recommend not opening your online file on XP, and upgrading your current XP computer to Windows 7.

Hope that helps.

Merrin

Hi, same problem as poster above I think.

I clicked on update software and it went through the process of updating.

However I was still getting the update software bar across the top of my screen and when I would click on it it just took me to my libary area where I could select a file and then open it only to again show the update software bar across the top of the screen.

Ive just realised now though that rather than updating my program that I normally open from my quick links on the laptop it has in fact installed a new version which I have to access from the programs list.  So will need to update the quick link to open the new version rather than my old one.

Though the other poster may have, like me, not realised it installed a new version rather than actually upgrading the existing one and that is why they are also still getting that upgrade now banner. Perhaps they are also still clicking on their old link to access it.

HTH :-)

Hi @Appps,

Thank you for sharing your experience on the forum. We do appreciate it.

You are right, in that the system will continue to show the upgrade message if an older (in this case v2013.5) version is opened. The AccountRight v2014.1 upgrade does not overwrite your previous version. It is installed as a separate program.

Please do post again if you have any queries.
