how to work offline

Hi team,

Because of the myob AccountRight outage now. We cannot access myob accountright to work. Just wondering if we can work offline and how? Thank you!

  • Hi minghua

If your file is online, and MYOB has an outage (whether their own or that of their 'cloud service provider') the only way to work offline is to have a current backup of your online file.

Basically it means making a backup every evening, just in case MYOB is having another one of these outages tomorrow.

This way you can restore the up to date backup locally and work on that. Then once the outage is resolved, you would need to make a backup of the local file you were using and then restore that online. This will replace the online file with the restored backup. There are support notes covering backups and restore in the Support area.

If you do this I recommend not using the Recently opened list to open your file, always use Open to ensure you are selecting the correct file (local or online), otherwise you could end up with 'missing transactions' a common problem where a user enters a transaction in one file and next time opens the other copy, wondering where the transaction has gone. Take care to always use the same file, whether it is local or online.

If you have a recent backup, you could use that for unavoidable things like generating an invoice for customer, however you would need to re-enter everything into the online file once it becomes available, rather than replacing the online file.

    Regards

    Gavin
