For those of us who have been around, ever since Single Touch Payroll was introduced, and at every EOY since, there have been major issues with either the MYOB Updates, or system instability such as this year, or reporting errors not visible throughout the year, suddenly appear.
Phase 2 is just another opportunity for more disasters - more user frustration and stress etc. Not only does MYOB force the file to be online, the way the reports are presented, that you have to look under the 3 dots to find hidden amounts and add them up yourself is quite poor for a premium priced product/service. And for terminated employees, the data is not only hidden but ofter missing altogether. And you just don't know what was sent to the ATO under MYOB's 'trust us' policy.
Many AR2023 users who did not want to have their files online switched to using STP Creator for STP reporting. Sure there is some additional cost, eg $111 for most employers or $222 for others. However it saves those users having to deal with all of the stress caused by the current issues using MYOB for STP reporting. You can process payroll in MYOB whenever you like (even when MYOB Payroll Reporting Centre is down). Best of all however is the fact that products like STP Creator, show you exactly what is being sent to the ATO before it is sent. So you can check that everything is setup and recorded correctly, and reported correctly. There is not need for repeated zero pays and the like. Fixing an error is considerably easier.
Sorry if to some this reads like a shameless plug for STP Creator. It just bothers me when I read so many posts over these past 2 days such as on this forum thread. MYOB have really dropped the ball, and users are paying the price, not just in premiums, but in the stress and frustrations as expressed by so many on this forum. Am I being too harsh? Perhaps. Though I'm not suggesting users abandon MYOB, just pointing out that when it comes to STP reporting, there are other, and arguable considerable better options.
