Appreciate your help! Paid Parental Leave I have a staff member who is going on PPL in a few weeks and I am trying to make sure I am sorted as it has been over 5 years since I last had to deal with PPL and obviously not in the new Payroll system. I see there are 2 options on how to deal with PPL, (excluding the employee, or including the employee from pay runs) and the easiest for me is to exclude the employee. MYOB says to add a termination date and then re-instate the employee when (if) they start back, however I am worried that this would mean they aren't accruing the Annual Holidays they are entitled to? Previously in the old system you were able to go into the employee tab and change their status to 'on PPL' so I am just wanting to double check I am doing it correctly. Also, we were told last year that the Split Pays function would be back this year - do we have an updated time frame for this as I have staff asking for this to happen? Thanks in advance :-) Re: Payroll - unable to sign in Thanks jenniek - has this just changed as I used the Essentials (what I had bookmarked and have been using since the last update) on Sunday night when I was checking holiday / sick pay, and then on Monday it wouldn't work? I couldn't access the app.myob.com last night either just kept asking me to login and then my 2FA wouldn't work, but it is definately working now - thanks very much! Payroll - unable to sign in I am unable to sign in to Payroll, couldn't sign in all night last night and again this morning. Just keep getting this error message: This page isn’t working essentials.myob.co.nz is currently unable to handle this request. HTTP ERROR 503 I have cleared the cache and deleted the browser history, have updated and restarted the computer and have tried another PC with a different browser but... the two factor authentication now wont work, sends me the email and when I put the number in it says incorrect number or it has been used before? (it isn't the incorrect number and I haven't used it before?? I need to get the pays processed today but am about to head off to work. Re: Payroll Upgrade - takes longer and is not user friendly Hi tonybower30, Thanks for that. I also am hoping some bugs will be ironed out very soon, I actually shortpaid a staff member last week (but was able to edit the bank batch before pay day), as I missed ticking the time and a half box for one staff member (for working the Public Holiday) - it is something so simple and I am not sure why this box is unticked but the 'Accrue Alternate Day' is ticked?? There are so many little things like that - it's frustrating to go from Essentials (worked perfectly for us) to this upgrade! Payroll Update - fixes required please..... I have already posted and listed many issues I have with the new Payroll upgrade, but all I am getting is your standard 'sorry this upgrade is causing incovenience and we appreciate your comments' replies. The upgrade has taken me longer to do the pays every week and I have just made an error in pay that simply should not happen and would not have happened in Essentials. This time of year is hard for those of us with a 7 day business week with staff working / not working / different hours / different shifts / extended hours / working on public holidays and not working but entitled to statutory days!! Please sort the following things that I and many others have already asked and are still asking for: 1 - Public holiday hours worked are entitled to time and a half - this is the law in New Zealand so why isn't the 'pay time and a half box' already ticked, its weird to not have this box ticked because you have the 'Accrue Alternate Day" ticked, yet this only applies if it is a normal working day... I missed ticking the box on one staff members pay and have short paid them about $100.00 for last week. Luckliy I have amazing staff who understand that mistakes happen however it doesn't look professional and I am gutted to have made that error! 2 - Please bring back the original 'holiday' box data entry screen or something very similar - when you clicked on this box it bought up holidays, alternate days owing and sick days all in one box - easy to see, read and enter - now I have to drill into each one to see what is owing to each staff member - fantastic over Christmas and New Years when staff are taking holidays .... It used to be so easy to use and to enter holidays, sick days, public holidays worked etc. 3 - Please bring back the 'preview payslip' option - this was such a handy double check as it was in alphabetical order and you could see if you had paid staff correctly - including paying time and a half and loading lieu days! 4 - The 'pay run summary' report just a waste of time, it isn't even aphabetical, I'm not even sure of the sorting process and I'm not sure why you would even provide a report that isn't alphabetical or at least have the option for different sorting?? It also doesn't show if you have paid staff out correctly as it doesn't show dollar amount in public holidays etc, the only way to see if you have actually paid time and a half is to follow that line across to the total and divide the total amount by the hours worked, that is not practical and nor do I have the time to do this for every employee. Please sort these as I really enjoyed using Essentials - it worked perfectly for us and many others. I understand you wanting to integrate with your Business model however surely the feedback being provided to you is showing that the upgrade is just not working for all of us.... Re: Payroll Upgrade - takes longer and is not user friendly Hey Leigh_Utton I agree with you, one time for no rhyme or reason I couldn't get the bank file to download, I mucked around with dates and clearing accounts, re-naming clearing accounts (I was told that would fix it) and in the end went for a walk so I didn't completely lose the plot. Went in and did the same thing the next day and it worked?? There are some definate bugs in the upgrade ... Its just frustrating because the simple things have been made harder for no reason and the report functionality is ridiculous (alphabetical order in reporting is just a basic) Re: Payroll Upgrade - takes longer and is not user friendly Hi Siobhan2 I dont think there are any are dates for changes and I dont know if any changes are being considered. I have had the same reply now 5-6 times on this and other posts using mostly the same words in slightly different ways.... Saying that they are sorry and asking us to keep providing feedback. We are all saying the same thing but they aren't listening, most if not all the commenters on this post just want Essentials back. Unfortunately I am (as are many others) now looking at a new payroll provider, its just an absolute **bleep** time to deal with this its the busiest time of year for us with multiple public holidays thrown in!! Re: Payroll Upgrade - takes longer and is not user friendly Hi Debbie1965, Today trying to check what I entered vs times sheets as a double check, and the only report is numerous pages long and NOT in alphabetical order, and the summary screen only shows hours worked (not sick or holiday pay paid) so you can't use that as a double check. The old preview payslips button was invaluable to me as I went through and double checked between worked / entered. I'm not even sure why some of the changes were made, they make absolutely no sense, they have added in unnecessary steps and taken away simple functionality! I'm currently in talks with our accountant and the Franchise accountant about a new payroll provider as I keep getting the same message saying sorry, which is nice but honestly I don't feel listened to by MYOB and nothing is changing except more data entry and time for me and the whole thing is super disappointing because the Essentials payroll was fantastic! Re: Payroll Change Hi Earl, Are any of the many points raised being considered for change? I have just processed another pay run, was a bit quicker this time but it's still too slow, takes me twice as long as Essentials. My biggest issue is what is the fascination at MYOB with all the drop down boxes - previously in the Essentials screen when selecting holidays to pay a wee pop-up box came up with Annual Leave / Alternate Days / Sick Leave showing, select whichever you would like to pay all the info was in one nice wee box - now if you want to pay staff out sick or holiday/s - use a drop down and go into each one to see if staff have any available. Want to enter / change hours - use a drop down box. Want to enter Annual Leave - use a drop down box to select the days they are away or you can't move past, and then if they have split days off, too bad. Trying to pay a Public Holiday / Statutory Day - use a drop down box to select the day or you can't move past. Also - and I am sure this cant be too hard, the Pay Roll Summary (used to be a one page report) now its multiple pages but why oh why can't it be alpabetical - there is absolutely no rhyme or reason to that report and staff are listed all over the show! I have spent the afternoon comparing other payroll providers and also asking our accountant about who they would recommend and I see many posters doing the same - please give us some feedback as to whether you are taking our issues seriously and planning on making changes or just replying with the stock standard 'sorry the upgrade isn't meeting your expectations' answer that we are getting from MYOB.
