It would be fantastic to be able to allocate a cost centre like a job code to each line of a transaction. Is there any chance of this? Make Cost Centre editable after transaction is paid Hi there - as a new user of Cost Centres late in the financial year, I'm finding it frustrating not being able to change the cost centre once the transaction has been paid. This means if an error has been made you have to remove the payment on it, then change the cost centre. Of course if it was in payroll, you would have to reverse the whole pay and resubmit. Seems like a lot of effort is required to change what is a simple allocation. Any chance this can remain editable even after being processed/paid? Re: Cost Centres and preferences - not showing in web browser Thanksgavin12345- glad its not just me :-) Even Xero still uses the term 'Chart of Accounts' and transaction accounts are grouped and categorised :-D Double whammy of confusion then occurs because the Accountright users had cost centres called categories. (Why they didn't get called cost centres from the start?). Standardised language avoids confusion. Dumbing down makes everyone 'think' they are capable of doing their own books, no matter their skill level which is absolutely not true. I'm a loooooong time Myob user and still think the desktop app is one of the better ones though. Re: Cost Centres and preferences - not showing in web browser Princess_Rthanks for your reply. Chart of Accounts is a standard bookkeeping term used by any bookkeeper and accountant. It's really strange. The chart of accounts is set out in different groups of categories, but to call the whole thing 'Categories' is non-sensical to me. Thanks for acknowledging that there is less functionality in the browser app and that my browser app is functioning normally and it's not an error that that functionality is missing. That's all I was asking in the first place. Many thanks, Carol Re: Cost Centres and preferences - not showing in web browser ThanksEarl_HD- thanks for your reply but you have misunderstood what I was asking as well. 1. I disagree that calling the Chart of Accounts 'Categories' is more intuitive. 2. In the desktop app what was 'Categories' is now known as 'Cost Centre'. 3. In Myob Business browser/app there is no 'Cost Centre' functionality. 4. This means you cannot interchange between the desktop app and the browser app because they have different functionaility. If my business requires Cost Centres to be allocated to transactions, then this is not possible in the browser app. 5. According to the help info on Cost Centres, it implies you must have activated Cost Centre funcionality in the desktop app for it to be available in the browser app - this is incorrect. I'm disappointed as the browser app was showing promise but it is not as good as the desktop app. Some of the reports available are good but that's about it. I'm not sure why it is so hard for Myob moderators to answer my query and acknowledge functionality is different between the desktop app and the browser app. Perhaps something is missing? Re: Cost Centres and preferences - not showing in web browser HiShella_A Unfortunately your reply did not help at all. I know in the desktop app that 'Categories' are now known as 'Cost Centres'. In the web browser version there is no option to create or even allocate a transaction to a Cost Centre. My question was - is this normal? If categories/cost centres are not available in the browser version, it seems like rather a big shortcoming of Myob Business in the browser. I can report on categories in the browser but that is all. There's also no 'Preferences' as seen in the desktop app where you can turn on/off certain components like 'use cost centres'. I just thought the browser version was going to be an alternative to the desktop app, but perhaps it isn't at all and there is an inherent lack of functionality still. Thanks, Carol Cost Centres and preferences - not showing in web browser Hi, I'm unable to see an option to allocate a cost centre on new transactions in the web browser. There is not even a list of cost centres available. Is it just me or is it the browser version of Myob? I've set up new cost centres in my desktop app. I also cannot see where to change preferences in the browser. Is it just me? SolvedRe: Prepare bank deposit with funds shown in opening balance I think I may just have to do the bank deposit as is and then do a journal for the remainder ie. what was entered as an account opening balance. Re: Prepare bank deposit with funds shown in opening balance Hi Celia_B, Thanks for your reply. I don't think I have explained myself well enough. When setting up a Myob file, there are opening balances entered (unless a new business). We had undeposited funds in our old system, so there was an 'undeposited funds' opening balance entered ie. we received the funds before setting up this file ie. before 1/7/23. I have taken all the undeposited funds to the bank now and am unable to create a bank deposit because the opening balance amount is not there, only the funds received since 1/7/23. If I tick all of the deposits, the deposit amount is short the account opening balance amount. I've attached a screenshot. The account opening balance amount is $1,228. The deposit should equal $1,228 plus all the deposits seen in the screenshot. Prepare bank deposit with funds shown in opening balance We started a new Myob file at the beginning of the FY and had an opening balance for the undeposited funds account. The opening balance amount is not showing up in the 'Prepare Bank Deposit' screen which means I can't deposit the correct amount. How do I fix this and retain the correct account balance?
