Adjusting Bank Deposits

 Hi Myob Brainstrust!

I have made a dogs' breakfast of the Prepare Bank Deposits! Learners mistakes moslty.

I have had to reverse a few transactions, entered in payments twice that I can now not get rid of and other great moments of der.

I now have a lot of transactions sitting in the bank deposits with nowhere to go. Can I make it all go away?

Hi @DazedNConfused

There are two 'true' ways of clearing the Prepare Bank Deposit window - delete the transactions in that window OR process those transaction.

• To delete a transaction you would select the relevant transaction so it opens on screen and select Edit>>Delete Transaction. Please note that some transactions may be in a state where they can't be deleted. 

• To process those transactions you tick them off and then select the Record button. Please note that this will affect the account that you have selected in the Deposit to account.

Another possible workaround, and one I personally would encourage you to use if you just want that Prepare Bank Deposit window clear is to create a new bank account (Accounts>>Accounts Lists>>New - give the account a name, a number and set the account type to be Bank). When that has been created go to Setup>>Linked Accounts>>Accounts & Banking>>Change the Bank Account for Undeposited Funds to be that new account. This will clear out the Prepare Bank Deposit window for you.

Please note: that this method will not remove the account balance of that account originally used for the Bank Account for Undeposited Funds if required its best to speak to an accountant about a journal entry to clear that account balance. Also do make sure that you have processed all transactions that you want to keep from the Prepare Bank Deposit window prior to changing that account.

I went with the linked account idea. I don't know why I didn't think of that myself!
