MYOB crashed after / during back up after patch update MYOB AR 2020.2 today

Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone is having the same issue here.

I updated MYOB this morning, as it showed an update.

But I havent been able to back up my file, tried 6 times now, and at the end of each try, MYOB crashed.

Hi @SusyR 

 

You mentioned that it is crashing after you are taking a backup of that company file. How are you taking a backup of the company file i.e. as what is the process you are using to take that backup - File>>Backup? through the company data auditor? through the backup prompt when closing the company file?

Thank you for your reply.

I use both ways, from File --> Back up and from Company Data Auditor as well.

Both to no avail.

Tried on different computer and different users still the same result.

The diagnostic file provided is what we will typically see with the issue that we have experienced in AccountRight 2020.2 with online files and backing up. If the company file is backed up through the Company Data Auditor, the backup of the file is successfully taken but the system will generate an error upon completion of that process.

I personally haven't been able to the replicate the same diagnostic log through other means and using the File>>Backup message has successfully generated the backup file without error. You also want to try enabling Setup>>Preferences>>Security - Prompt for backup when closing and then taking a backup through that method (note: days since the last backup will not update in AccountRight 2020.2)

 

If would recommend checking to see if the actual backup has been successfully created in the backup location. If so, try restoring that file to ensure that it restores correctly.

I tried your method (Setup>>Preferences>>Security - Prompt for backup when closing and then taking a backup through that method ) and It still crashed at the end.

They were files on the folder but it is not the full size file as per attached (I circle three failed backups for your reference)

Hi @SusyR 

 

With the release of AccountRight 2020.2, an actual change was made to the back end database that means that clients are using a more up-to-date database. As a result, the actual company file and backups of the company file could be reduced in size. 

So from what I am seeing of the screenshot you have provided the actual backup is being taken successfully (minus the known issue with the software generating an error upon backup) as the zip file does appear to be created. To give you peace of mind, you are more than welcome to restore one of those files to ensure that it has the correct and up-to-date information in it. I would recommend restoring it locally and with a different filename.
