I have found a solution to the block apparently created by a Windows 10 automatic upgrade. A temporary solution required each time you want to use MYOB is as follows:
Firstly find the full path for myob.exe. Mine is c:\Plus19\myob.exe. Write this down without the c\:
Next press the Windows Logo key ( bottom left row of keyboard) plus the X key, then the A key.
This brings up a screen Windows Power Shell- select yes to run
The screen now has writing
PS C:\windows\system32>
After the > sign type cd.. (c with 2 full stops)and press enter
The screen now has writing
PS C:\windows\>
Again type cd.. (c with 2 full stops)and press enter
The screen now has writing
PS C:\windows\>
After the > sign type your written pathway so that it looks like this
PS C:\windows\>plus19\myob.exe
Press enter and the myob startup screen appears so that you can access your file
A complex permanent solution is also available. I have successfully used both- one on a PC with the Windows 10 Home version and the other on a laptop with the Pro version
If you have Windows 10 Pro, there is a hidden program that allows access to program restrictions.
Press Win+R to bring up the run dialog, and type in gpedit.msc and press ok
From the drop down menu in local group policy editor, select the folders in the following order always choosing the top listing if there is more than one:
computer configuration-Windows settings-security settings-local policies-security options, the scroll down a list of options and select "User account control run all administrators in Admin App..." which is enabled. click enter and changed to disabled. Click ok and Exit. Restart the computer. You now can acces MYOB
If you only have Windows 10 home, you need to install the local group policy editor, called Add GPEDIT.msc which I found at major geeks.com. Then from Zero Dollar Tips I downloaded their article "how to Install gpedit.msc on Windows 10 Home Edition". Great instructions if you have some computer knowledge

I got 2 of my customers up and running with a batch file. Pretty hilarious that 30 year old dos commands get this running.
Open Notepad
Type in:
C:
CD \Plus19
myob.exe
then
Save as... set Desktop as destination, change filetype to All Files and name it MYOB.bat
Right-click on the new desktop icon, and left click on Run as Administrator

Hi there,
You can resolve this issue by updating the registry key.
Login as administrator, open Regedit, change EnableLUA from 1 to 0 and then restart the computer.
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System\EnableLUA to from 1 to 0.
Cheers

Hi,
Disabling UAC etc may work on some systems but can lead to unintended consequences and security risks for other software. I would strongly suggest the batch file solution suggested here (4th post) or a similar variation. If done correctly this works in all instances and does not affect other software, and does not increase risks from other software.
Regards
Gavin

Apparently this problem came about because MYOB allowed the security certificate to expire, thus triggering the Windows security block. I guess MYOB moved to a differerent certificate now and let the old one expire as a means of forcing some users to abandon the non-subscription products.

Back in August 2018 we did announce the end of support for the AccountRight Classic range. This includes AccountRight v19 and earlier. As part of this end of support, no new releases would be available for any changes to the underlying operating systems such as what happened in this case.
That said it is pleasing to see the community sharing the solutions that have worked for them, as I’m sure other users have found them to be helpful options for those who do not want to upgrade.
Regards,
Neil
