AccountRight 2018.1 - Unable to see or open company files

We are developers and integrate our software with AccountRight.  We were using AccountRight SE 2016.x and have recently installed AccountRight SE 2018.1 for integration testing.

Since installing 2018.1, we have been unable to see any company files within AccountRight.  For clarity, we are only using AccountRight at this stage, our own software in currently not integrated with this installation.

AccountRight allows us to see the folder structure where the company files are located, and we can verify this by creating additional empty folders, and seeing them appear in AccountRight.  We can see the sample folders for AU and NZ, but cannot see any of the sample company files even though they are contained on disk within those folders.

If we move one of the AccountRight company files to another folder outside our library folder, we can request AccountRight to open the file.  It asks for permission to move the company file into the library, and then fails to open the file, and reports the error:  "The connection to the server was lost.  Please check that the server is on and connected to the network".

Note that if we close AccountRight, and then double-click on a company file, the file will be opened in AccountRight, thus proving that the file itself is a valid company file.

If we browse to the default AccountRight page, we get a response of "Empty", presumably because it cannot find any company files.

We have checked and changed the default library location numerous times to no avail.

Any advice on how to resolve this issue would be appreciated.  We have seen similar posts from other users, none of which seemed to have any resolution.

Re: AccountRight 2018.1 - Unable to see or open company files

Hi @Colin_Verdant, a possible solution to this issue was suggested on the forum here. Have you tried that?

The suggestion was:

Some clients have found some success with this situation by completing the following steps:

  1. Stopping the AccountRight Library Service
  2. Download and install, both the 32-bit & 64-bit variations, of the Microsoft SQL Server 2012 SP3 - SQLSysClrTypes.msi
  3. Once those have been installed, restart the AccountRight Library Service.

That seems to have fixed it.  Much appreciated!

Re: AccountRight 2018.1 - Unable to see or open company files

Hi Mike!

We have just been caught by the exact same problem! Your solution was the key to resolving it for us, thank-you.

Documenting for the benefit of others;

Upgraded from 2018.1 to 2018.2

When users upgraded the file to 2018.2 it would not commit the upgrade and ask them to complete the upgrade each time they opened the file.

Upgraded the file via MYOB directly (not via Network Library) which was successful.

Copying the file back to the Network Library on the server did not serve the file to clients.

Tried;

Uninstall of SE, reinstall.

If we emptied the MYOB > MyAccountRight Files folder the client would still show all of the files. Very much like there was a cache.

Deleted C:\ProgramData\MYOB\AccountRight\Servers\LibraryMetadataCache.sdf to no benefit.

many other ideas (well over an hour spent on the phone wasted with business, IT Support Consultant and MYOB Support)

Installed the SQL components as outlined above. Restart the server and now it is behaving exactly as required.

Thanks for others in the community documenting these required components for MYOB customers

I'm glad to know the solution has helped you @JamR, but please note that it was posted in the thread I referenced by @Steven_M, one of MYOB's moderators.

Re: AccountRight 2018.1 - Unable to see or open company files

Hi Mike

We're having the same problem (https://community.myob.com/t5/AccountRight-Getting-started/MYOB-AccountRight-2018-2-Server/m-p/52212...)

Not getting much in the way of suggestions unfortunately.

Just wondering why we'd install something from SQL Server 2012 SP3 when installed versions are SQL Server Compact 3.5 and 4.0.

Thanks Alan

Re: AccountRight 2018.1 - Unable to see or open company files

I was able to fix this issue without installing Microsoft SQL, stopping and starting the MYOB library service was sufficient!
