Payment Type field on Payment Summaries

Hi Everyone

Recently the ATO has included a new required field on payment summaries. This particular field will denote what type the payment summary is and is located next to the Gross Payments field.



Below are the codes and what each particular code means.


Type Code



Non-Super Pensioner or annuity type of employee.


Working Holiday Maker


Salary and Wages -or- Standard Tax Employee

If you do have a Working Holiday Maker to ensure that you get H on their Payment Type you will need to have the Working Holiday Maker or  No Tax File Name Working Holiday Maker set in as their Tax Table (in the Wages section for that employee).


All other employees would have S as their Payment Type on their Payment Summary. According to the ATO website, it does list that if the employee is not a working holiday maker or pensioner that the field should be blank. MYOB have confirmed with the ATO that having S in this fields is acceptable as well.
