Personal leave is not accrued in hours but days

The Full Federal Court yesterday confirmed that all employees (including part-time employees) are entitled to 10 “working days” of personal/carer's leave per year under the Fair Work Act, regardless of how many hours the employees work per day or how many days are worked per week.  MYOB accrues personal/carer's leave on an hourly basis.

Is there an update planned in the near future to handle shiftworkers who work more than 7.6 ordinary hours in a day and part-time employees who will now accrue a full 10 working days per year (as opposed to a pro-rated amount based on their shorter working week)?

Re: Personal leave is not accrued in hours but days

Hi @CarolineG,

Thank you for the post!

Thank you for giving that information on personal leave. I am not aware of any planned changes to allow leave to be done in days. If there is any such update or changes we would keep our users posted in the forum.

Thank you.

Cheers,
Gayathri
