Deleting Former Employees on NZ Payroll

Hi,

I am having a few issues with deleting an employee's file... We have not started to use the payroll system but have set it up in preparation for when we have time to transfer over. However an employee has now left the company and when I go to delete the file it says that unable to delete as there is a IR348 recorded. Unsure of where to go from here as we have not filed one of IRD reports... Would it be easier to inactivate the employee? Sorry Im sure there is an easy way to do it, just can't seem to find it!

Thanks, Melissa

Hi @Parker21

If any employee has had transactions linked to it you will not be able to delete them due to audit purposes, so you will have to mark them as inactive.

Re: Deleting Former Employees on NZ Payroll

Hi there @Parker21

To clarify what Dee says - you need to put in a termination date for this employee - which will then mark them as inactive.

You could also purge information from the File menu - but this is normally only used for very large files and purges a whole year - which you probably can't do if you are using the current financial year for both test and live data.
