I am trying to install a trial version of the NZ Payroll module. Once downloaded when I double click on the file nothing happens. I am trying to run it on Windows Server 2008 r2.

Hi @Prismatic
Can you try right clicking and run as administrator to see if this works. Otherwise you could try starting the server in safe mode and then click on the set-up to run.

I tried running as Administrator and still nothing. I can't try Safe Mode until after hours without kicking everyone off he server. I will come back after I have tried Safe Mode.

Hello @Prismatic
Thank you for your post,
The payroll software takes a while to unpack when you click on it to select run. I suggest just clicking on it and wait for it to come up. We have had reports of the unpacking to take half an hour of more.
This is inconvenient however the install does work smoothly.
Hope this helps
Kind regards,
Kat

Hi Kat
Unfortunately nothing happens when double clicking on the downloaded file. There is no acknowledgement that the unpacking process is running and it does not show up in Windows Task Manager as running. I have waited 1.5 hours and still nothing.
I know when I downloaded NZ AccountRight the download file had no extension on it and only worked when I added .exe to it. The Payroll file downloaded from the MYOB NZ website is MYOB_Payroll_2015 and it is an application file of 55mb. If the file can take upto half hour to unpack, is there meant to be a zip or exe file that should be downloaded rather than an application file?

Hello @Prismatic
Thank you for your update on how you are going.
Payroll is only an appreciation file that gets downloaded from the link we send out, once this is downloaded and unpacked it becomes the installer setup.
Have a look through this support note -Troubling MYOB Payroll installation it has some very helpful information and what you need to check for if you are unsure of what the install is doing.
Let us know if you need any more assistance.
Kind regards,
Kat

Hi Kat
I don't appear to get past step one. When I double click on the file I do not get a progress bar. I am attempting to install it on Windows Server 2008 r2, could this be the problem?
regards
Anne-Marie

Are you installing as an administrator. Technically it should be loaded onto a local machine rather than the server.

Hi @Prismatic
It does sound like something is stopping the unpacking and installation of the program from loading. I would recommend clearing out the temp folder on your computer for your users. This is because Payroll unpackes the installer into that temp folder and then launches the installer from there. I would also look at temporarily disabling your anitivirus and firewall in case that is blocking it. I would also set UAC (User Access Control) to be low or never notify - for more information into UAC please see Turn User Account Control on or off
Finally if you are still unable to start the installation, I would be looking into installing the program in safe mode on that computer. Personally I have always had success installing using safe mode particularly if the installation is not appearing.
