STP Errors

I have these two codes and I cant seem to work out why.

• Payee Commencement Date must be provided
  (ATO error code: CMN.ATO.PAYEVNTEMP.000278)
• Payee Commencement Date must be after 1/1/1950 or the default of 1/1/1800
  (ATO error code: CMN.ATO.PAYEVNTEMP.000271)

The person concerned has his commencement date in the system as 17/02/2023

Thank you for your post. This error means you must report the commencement date for all your employees. Usually, this will be the date your employment relationship with the employee started.  Transferring or rehiring can also have an impact on the date that you reported. There are still cases wherein the dates are adjusted based on:
 

• service with multiple related entities in a group
• recognised prior service following transfer of a business
• breaks in service
• leave without pay.

If you don't know your employees' commencement date, you can report a default date of '01/01/1800'. For further questions about it, it's best to contact the ATO.
