Hello @MattIsTaken
Thanks for your question, and welcome to the MYOB Community Forum! I hope you find it helpful.
With regards to creating a custom database view, and whether it will affect your warranty, the answer is not a simple one and does depend on a few different factors.
Firstly, the custom view would only be able to be used to store the result of a query, and would not be used to update the data elsewhere in the database.
Secondly, the custom view would not be supported by MYOB - which would mean that if there is a database change which affects the view, it would not be something that the support agreement would cover.
Finally, if the custom view causes speed issues, support may advise that the custom view would need to be deleted as part of the troubleshooting process.
Other than those factors, the warranty should not be affected. I will add, that any changes written to the existing MYOB databases, that does not use the MYOB application, would invalidate any warranties or support agreements, and may render the software unusable.

Hi Helen, thanks for your response. I am confused by your last statements - is adding a custom view to the database a "change written to the existing MYOB databases"? I.e. the view is created in and therefore is stored in the SQL database, so is this considered a "chang written to the MYOB databases". Im specifically interested in whether a view containing a simple SELECT SQL statement would affect the warrantee. Thanks for your help.

Hello @MattIsTaken
The statement refers to the databases as created by MYOB. For example, if you were to use 3rd party software, and import data from that software into the view, and then update the MYOB database (as it currently stands), you are not using the software to write a change to the database, and that would void the warranty. By "write a change", I am referring to data change.
Hope that clears things up!
