Advanced Payroll: Employee Self Service (ESS) improvements in 2023

Employee Self Service (ESS) is a vital feature, especially for customers transitioning to the cloud. It empowers both managers and employees by providing easy access to payroll and leave information, reducing the workload on your payroll team. However, we understand that some key features were causing challenges, leading to low customer satisfaction. We've heard your feedback and are pleased to share an overview of the 2023 changes to improve the customer experience.

Here's a recap of the key changes to Employee Self Service (ESS):

2022.2.1 Release - Reduce Support Backlog

  • We made significant improvements to reduce the support backlog, ensuring smoother operations for your teams.

2022.2.2 release notes - Leave Requests Enhancements

  • Control how ESS leave requests handle negative leave balances.

  • Managers can now report on Team Leave Balances, including projected leave balances.

    • Note: Some customers an Array dimensions error when using the report. This is fixed in 2022.2.3 and a customisation is available on the Partner Portal.
  • Payroll Administrators have the ability to map ESS leave requests to paid leave in completed pays.

New in 2023.1.1

  • Easier onboarding for new employees with custom Welcome emails.

  • A significant reduction in implementation time for single leave approver workflows.

  • The introduction of the ability to cancel ESS leave requests.

  • Reassignment and delegation of leave approvals.

The new online Employee Self Service landing page is designed to make it easier for employees, managers, payroll administrators, and implementers to find content that's most relevant to them. We are refreshing this content to include the 2023.1.1 changes. We'll share more details when they are complete.

Your ideas matter to us, and we've addressed several of them. Your votes and suggestions helped us to identify the highest impact changes, focusing on making ESS more efficient and user-friendly.
