Our practice is taking over clients from another AO user who has since passed away, what is the best way to migrate his data files to our AO software?

  • Hi RBA3136 ,

The simplest solution is to talk to your account manager about getting a data migration done. This will bring across all client information, including WIP, documents, ledgers and Tax returns.

You can manually move across some data by a combination of manual entry and export / import, but it will not be a complete data set.

    Cheers.

  • Hello RBA3136

Thanks for your question, and welcome to the MYOB Community Forum!

As SB_Systems mentioned, you will need to talk to your Account Manager to organise the data transfer. However, it may be that a data merge is required, which is a little more complex than a data migration. A data merge is where you combine the data from two separate sources, whereas the data migration is where you move data from one location to another (where it will overwrite anything currently there).

When you speak to your Account Manager, if you explain what you are trying to do, they will advise which option you will need.
