ContributionsMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: SQL 2014 to 2019 Migration Utility on DC Hi All, apologies for the delay - you can find information on using the SQL Upgrade Utility to upgrade SQL Express 2014 to SQL Express 2019 on a Domain Controller here. Please be aware that there are some caveats when installing SQL Server on a Domain Controller - and you should definitely be aware of them, the implications and so on. Re: SQL 2014 to 2019 Migration Utility on DC Hi everyone, For the sake of clarify, MYOB does not explicitly prevent the installation of SQL 2019 on a Domain Controller, however it is not recommended from a security perspective by Microsoft. Microsoft's own SQL installer (which our SQL upgrade utility uses) does not prevent the installation of SQL on a Domain Controller. Our SQL 2014 - 2019 Upgrade utility not only runs the Microsoft provided SQL 2019 installer, and upgrades your 2014 instance to 2019, but also does a number of other steps as well. The upgrade utility will block an upgrade on a Domain Controller because of security complications that can occur with SQL on a Domain Controller - including, but not limited, to services that need to interact with the SQL server may not be able to without permission changes and so on. It's important to note that much of this is beyond the scope of MYOB support. As such, the tool - out of the box so to speak - does not allow a direct upgrade. I've written a KB on this that is currently in the process of being published - once It's published, this will cover off the steps you can take to use the SQL Upgrade utility to upgrade your SQL instance on a Domain Controller. I will post the link to this thread as soon as it's ready. Re: SQL 2019 Thanks for the reply. There could be a couple of possible causes for that. SQL Server application is currently stopped/not running on the server to resolve this, make sure that the "Microsoft SQL Server (MYOBACCT)" is running in the Windows services control panel. Firewall is preventing access to SQL server from workstations It's possible that firewall rules don't exist in your firewall to allow SQL "clients" to connect to the SQL server. This is a bit trickier to resolve. Troubleshooting your Firewall product is not really covered by MYOB support as it's environmental. If the Firewall is the cause, then it would require rules to be created in your firewall to allow SQL clients (such as the MYOB application) to be able to "talk" through the firewall rather than being blocked. SQL server uses a range of ports, including TCP/UDP ports 1433 and 1434, as well as a "range" of ports used for dynamic ports - this is set inside the SQL application at install, based on your system. In order the set the appropriate ports, you'd need to confirm what ports of being used by the SQL server using the SQL Configuration Manager tool - this can be a bit tricky. If you are using Windows Defender as your firewall (This is the default firewall product in Windows) , then please reach out to support team. I've advised them of this post. Re: SQL 2019 Hi stevencrisp , Support for the MYOB Practice Solutions team opens at 9am Melbourne time. If you can provide some information about the problem you've encountered we may be able to assist before support opens - alternatively, you can call support on 1300 555 117 from 9am (Melbourne time) Re: 2023 Occupation Codes Hi All, use of any of the following codes (which have been end-dated by the ATO prior to the commencement of this financial year) will result in the occupation code being changed by the ATO to 999000 - OCCUPATION NOT LISTED. 223311 341111 261399 234999 311299 399999 Subsequently, the occupation codes listed above are not available for use in the software. If prefilling a return from ATO data includes one of these occupation codes, it's important to change to a relevant code - otherwise the above mentioned code will be used by the ATO. The ATO have confirmed this an issue with their system and advised software developers accordingly, and the relevant changes as required have been made. However, the ATO public facing website has yet to be updated. Re: 2023 Occupation Codes Hi FAJ, We dont set or specify the Occupation Codes that are available for use when lodging a return - these are set by the ATO. It's best to have that discussion with the ATO with regard to the relevant Occupation Codes for specific roles. Re: 2023 Occupation Codes Hi TrishM, and FAJ, The 2023 Occupation Code for Electrician - General (Code 341111) has been removed from the AO/AE product as it's not a valid code according to the ATO Electronic Lodgement Specifications for the 2023 year that all software providers are required to comply with. There was quite a bit of confusion with changes to Occupation Codes this year - the ATO provide software providers with a list of codes that we are reqired to have, and they are implemented in software (by the vendors) and also at the ATO for validation upon lodgement. However there were issues with the ATO implementing this in their lodgement gateways and consenqently, a lot of our customers (as well as those of other vendors) were reporting a number of codes that were being rejected for invalid occupation codes. In total, there are approx 70 odd codes that are in this list. Our 2023.0a hotfix removed these no longer supported codes from the AE/AO software to more accurately reflect what the ATO lodgement gateways accept - however the ATO Occupation code list on their website has not yet been updated to reflect this. You can find information about the relevant occupation codes that have been removed in our known issues page. (edited: grammatical error) Re: Company income tax return from within account right Hi KevinR, Apologies for the delay (I've been on Annual Leave for the week). You are correct that I can't provide recommendations, however I can provide you with a Link to the ATO Software Developers site for SBR that lists companies that produce software capable of lodging Company Tax Returns via SBR. You can find that link here It's important to note that this list is Maintained by the ATO and other Governement Departments responsible for SBR. The majority of products on this list as products designed for Tax Agents to prepare returns (as mentioned previously). This list might also contain items/products that are no longer available etc. You are welcome to go through the list and check out each of the products - however, remember that the majority of these products are designed for Tax Agents to prepare not just company, but also Individual, Trust, Partnership, Company and Super Fund returns - amongst many other functions. Re: Company income tax return from within account right Hi KevinR, While you could certainly purchase, setup and install MYOB Accountants Office to prepare and lodge your company return, it's likely not the best product for your needs. MYOB Accountants Office, and Accountants Enterprise, are geared toward Accounting Practices, and lodge forms via the Practitioners Lodgement Service (PLS) which uses SBR. To set up and lodge with Accountants Office, or Accountants Enterprise, you would need a Registered Agent Number, and ABN for that agent, registered with the ATO, as well as a bunch of other credetials etc to be able to interact with the ATO in this way. This is over and above the credentials and setup that is required to lodge STP data to the ATO. There are also very specific requirements that the Tax Practitioners Board have in relation to registering as a tax agent (to obtain a Registered Agent Number). It is possible as a company, to lodge your own company return, rather than using a Registered Tax Agent (with a Registrated Agent Number (RAN)) however neither AccountRight, Essentials or MYOB Accountants Office/Enterprise are targeted at this market or offer the ability to do this. Accountants Office/Enterprise require a RAN to be able to lodge) There are third party products that will capture details from your AccountRight file and allow you to lodge them directly to the ATO. Hope this helps. If you do wish to pursue the Accountants Office option further, do let us know, and we can organsie for one of the sales team to provide a price. Re: who owns the myobao licence- myob or myself? Hi rgka , Thanks for your question, and welcome to the MYOB Community Forum - we hope you find it a useful resource! When installing MYOB Accountants Office (AO) or MYOB Accountants Office Classic (AO Classic), you are asked to agree to the End User Licence Agreement. Part of this agreement is that the Software remains the property of MYOB, but complying with the licence and paying relevant applicable licence fees allows you to use the software for the period for which you are paying it. For example, you are licenced for 4 users to use the software at one time. If you are no longer paying for the softrware, you are required to no longer have the software installed. Hopefully this helps - if you have any further questions, do let me know.
