This AccountRight update will help everyone in your business get their work done faster, with better cashflow management, stock control and payroll (for Australian businesses).

Late payers have nowhere to hide

We’ve made it really easy to identify problem customers—the ones who always pay late and have overdue balances.

Head on over to the Cards List window and you’ll see all customers with overdue amounts owing. At a glance you can also see all customers that are on credit hold, disallowing further sales—look out for the alert icon.

Cards List

In AccountRight Standard and Plus, overdue supplier balances are also highlighted.

Drill-down to see more detail

Open a customer card, and voilà, you’ll immediately see the customer’s average days to pay, the amounts due and overdue, and whether they’re on credit hold. You can’t miss it. Similarly, you can keep an eye on supplier payment stats by opening the supplier cards.

Card Information

When you click the arrow next to the customer or supplier balance showing in their card, you’ll see a detailed breakdown of the transactions that make up the balance, like the one shown here.

Analyse Receivables

Record purchases faster

Not available in AccountRight Basics

In previous updates we sped up the sales and banking features you use most often. With this release, you’ll notice that purchases, especially lengthy service purchases, and those without inventory items (that is, items you don’t track on-hand quantities for) now record twice as fast. Stay tuned for faster inventory item purchases in a future update.

Better leave management

AccountRight Plus, Australia only

The most popular request on the AccountRight Idea Exchange has been from payroll officers who want to be notified when an employee requests, or has taken, more leave than they are entitled to.

Good news—When entering an employee's leave hours in their pay, an alert will appear if the amount taken is greater than their existing leave balance plus the hours accrued in the pay period. You’ll also see a summary of what the leave balance will be if you go ahead with the pay.

Leave alert

Here’s another payroll improvement we’ve sneaked in:

Previously you could add a payroll category to an employee’s pay while you were processing a pay run, but the change would only apply to that pay run.

Now you can apply the change to the employee’s future pays as well. Just select the Save changes for future pay runs option when adding the payroll category.

Add Pay Category

Supersonic installation

Keeping AccountRight up to date on your PC shouldn’t be a hassle, and we’re taking big steps to make the update process easy and fast. Our ultimate goal is to make updating AccountRight as easy as updating your internet browser.

We’re not quite there yet, but to help us achieve this goal, we’ve replaced the traditional AccountRight installer you’ve used in the past with a streamlined installer, which we call the PC Installer.

The PC Installer is 50% lighter than previous AccountRight installers, and takes just seconds to complete.

PC installer

Note that if prerequisite software, such as Microsoft .NET updates, need to be downloaded and installed, installation will take more time. Also, Windows XP and Vista are not supported.

Reintroducing the Analyse Inventory (Summary) report

Not available in AccountRight Basics

The Analyse Inventory (Summary) report you loved in AccountRight v19 is back. So now you can print an order book that shows what’s in stock, what’s on order, and what’s committed to customers.

Analyse Inventory report

We’ve also tweaked the ‘Detail’ report, so it should run faster if there are lots of items.

Extend AccountRight with add-ons

Have you visited the MYOB Add-On Centre? It’s the place to go when looking for software that integrates with AccountRight - apps like advanced reporting, billing and job tracking tools, POS systems and cashflow tools that work with your company file information. All these apps integrate seamlessly with AccountRight thanks to the MYOB Add-on Connector.

When you install AccountRight using the PC installer, the Add-on Connector will be switched on for you to connect other apps to AccountRight. You’ll know it’s running, because the icon will appear in your Windows taskbar.

So visit the MYOB Add-On Centre at myob.com/addons and see how you can get more out of AccountRight.

Super payments, super easy

AccountRight Plus, Australia only

When you install this update, you’ll notice a shiny new Pay superannuation button. It’s your first glimpse at our upcoming super payment feature.

Pay Superannuation

What’s so special about it? It’ll be one of the only integrated solutions on the market, which means you’ll pay your super from within AccountRight and reap the productivity rewards.

And most importantly, it’s free with your AccountRight subscription! It’ll also be compliant with the government’s upcoming SuperStream changes, so no matter what, we’ve got you covered.

We’re still hard at work building the best super payment feature we can, but click the button in AccountRight to register your interest and stay in the know—you’ll get updates on the project, and maybe even an invitation to join us for some user experience testing or a pilot program.

I am still awaiting for a reply to my question regarding the upgrade PDF.

You have about 30 minutes until I assume that not only is your organisation incompetent, you also flat out LIE to your customers to project an image on these boards that is very, very far from the truth.

    Toby.

  • Hi MarcD

Thanks for your feedback about the message bar. Obviously if you update the software the message that a new version of the software is available will disappear. But I have passed your comments onto the design team that you would like the option to dismiss the message without upgrading to recover some on-screen real estate.

  • WOW

I am new to this and thought that it was the way i use MYOB that was causing the issues i am having.

Being a small business there is ONLY 1 issue that i whish the team at MYOB would fix

(and i really thought it would be just for me).

With so many buttons and drop downs that you have in your software could you please include a new button.

    It would have to read.

"BACKSTEP YOUR CURRENT VERSION TO V 19.5"

Is there anything else i need to say.

I opened MYOB this morning and the upgrade prompt came up. Went through process but the version number has not changed. How do I run the upgrade again?

What issues have been fixed in this version - has the ongoing order to Invoices prblem been addressed?

  • Hi There

I've upgrade my myob to AccountRight 2014.1, but the screen is all messed up and it's hard to read everything. I'm running windows 8.1. Any suggestions on how I can solve this issue, as it's making things a little hard to read and work with.

    Thanks

    Hello,

I have not upgraded yet as I have a couple of concerns. I run Windows XP on one computer and Windows 7 on the other computer which I use to access and work on my accounts.

Windows XP is not supported by this upgrade - understandable as Windows is also not supporting this platform any more.

My question is, if I upgrade the computer running Windows 7, will I still be able to access my on line file from the computer that is running Windows XP? My feeling is that it won't work, but need some guidance.

What support will be available for MYOB 2013.5.15, and can us old folk who still prefer Windows XP continue to use our on line file?

Many thanks for your time in replying to the above queries.

    Hi TKA

Thanks for dropping us a line about XP and this release. Hopefully I can shed some light on this for you.

When we stop supporting an operating system (in this case XP), it means we stop testing our software on that particular system. So, while it may still open and work fine, we won't guarantee that it will, and we don't recommend it.

So, in your case, you may find that you can still open your AR 2013.5 file using both your Windows 7 and XP computers, and may upgrade to 2014.1 and still find the same.

However (and this is a pretty big one), Windows decision to sunset support on XP means that continuing to use XP as an operating system may expose you to security issues (and yes, by security issues, I mean viruses and the like).

If you'd like more info - we've written a blog post about it. But basically, for your computer safety and the security of your AccountRight file, I'd recommend not opening your online file on XP, and upgrading your current XP computer to Windows 7.

    Hope that helps.

  • Hi, same problem as poster above I think.

I clicked on update software and it went through the process of updating.

However I was still getting the update software bar across the top of my screen and when I would click on it it just took me to my libary area where I could select a file and then open it only to again show the update software bar across the top of the screen.

Ive just realised now though that rather than updating my program that I normally open from my quick links on the laptop it has in fact installed a new version which I have to access from the programs list.  So will need to update the quick link to open the new version rather than my old one.

Though the other poster may have, like me, not realised it installed a new version rather than actually upgrading the existing one and that is why they are also still getting that upgrade now banner. Perhaps they are also still clicking on their old link to access it.

    HTH :-)
