Blog Post
Hi Wingnut , We announced the end of life of AccountEdge in 2022 and allowed customers to continue to use it since then, with a view that they would move to more secure and modern programs. We feel that we have allowed enough time for this transition.
'Announced in 2022'? That's like warning of a leaky roof, then flooding the house in 2026. The April notice killed upgrades/support—fine, we braced. But file validation lockout? Buried in fine print until your Nov '25 alarm bells. My 2004 perpetual license (I am sure that you have it,User Guide: zero sunset clauses) means ongoing usability under CGA s6/9—not your 'enough time' veto after 22 years of data sweat. Others have tried this; backlash forced extensions/refunds. Prove the legal basis for this brick wall, or restore confirmations gratis. Otherwise, it's planned obsolescence, not 'transition.' Who's with me on a legacy users' CGA claim?

I agree, As I mentioned in another post, MYOB are being disingenuous and patronising with this claim that customers don’t know how to protect themselves.

This appears to be the only option i.e. report to the ACCC for unconscionable conduct.
Your rights as a perpetual license holder
- You are entitled to confirmation: If you have a perpetual license and are using the software according to the agreement, MYOB is obliged to provide confirmation codes.
- Activation and confirmation is for anti-piracy: The confirmation process is an anti-piracy measure to ensure you have a legitimate license, not a way to force upgrades.
- What to do if denied a code: Ask the MYOB representative for a written statement that they will not provide a code.Report the conduct to the ACCC for unconscionable conduct.
