Changes to MYOB AccountRight offline mode
6 MIN READ 15/06/2026 Hi all, a note to let you know that we have updated our help information to make it clearer for customers to understand the process of moving their file online. Particularly, the step around updating your serial number in product seems to catch a few people. Please check out the information here. It is important to note that these steps will only work until the 17th June when the changes to offline mode take place. We will update the help again with the process for going online after the 17th (once the change has gone through) **Updated with new FAQs 21/04 - please scroll down Hello Accountant and Bookkeeper community. An important update was emailed to our partners yesterday, but I am posting an update here as well for any who might have missed it (and because it is being discussed in the forum already). From 17 June 2026, MYOB AccountRight desktop app (PC edition) will only work with company files stored online. Offline mode will no longer be available, and from version 2026.5 (PC edition) you’ll no longer be able to open, edit or save files stored locally (in My Library or Network Library). AccountRight desktop isn’t going anywhere. The only change is that your company file will need to be online to receive product and security updates, support, and online services.  If you’re currently using an offline AccountRight file with an active subscription, you need to move your file online before 17 June 2026 to continue to access AccountRight . There’s no additional cost to move your existing subscribed file online. Why are we making this change?   The offline version of MYOB AccountRight desktop is built on technology that no longer meets today’s performance standards. Moving online will:  Improve performance, reliability and security, such as 2FA and regular online back-ups  Ensure MYOB AccountRight is built on current, supported technology  Deliver faster and more frequent improvements, including stronger AI capabilities  Align with industry best practice and evolving needs of our customers   We remain committed to supporting your business far into the future. Our focus is shifting to investing in our next generation of online products and modern technology that reflects the evolving needs of our customers, delivering solutions that save time, increase efficiency, and improve collaboration between small businesses and their advisors.  We’ve put together an overview of what’s changing and how to move your file online linked here Please note, that any SME customers who need to take action have been sent a reminder communication on Wednesday 5th June. If your clients are not ready to move their file online by 17 June 2026, MYOB AccountRight Server Edition is a temporary solution that may support working offline for the short-term. Please note, Server Edition will only support offline files from version 2026.5. To access online files, customers will need to download and install the latest version of MYOB AccountRight PC edition or login to MYOB AccountRight in the browser. Learn more about what’s changing and how to move files online Updated FAQs 21/04 There is a legal requirement for businesses to keep records for 7 years – can I access an old back up for these purposes? Yes. You can continue to meet your 7-year record-keeping obligations with your existing offline backups. Here's how: For audit/view-only purposes – You can restore older backups in any AccountRight PC edition version prior to 2026.5 to view files. These versions remain available on our website at myob.com/downloads. For active files – If you have an active subscription, you can access prior years directly from your browser without restoring a backup. How can I view an old offline file after this change? To open an old offline file, customers can download a previous version of MYOB AccountRight PC Edition and use that to open, access, or interact with an offline file. PC Edition We currently host previous versions of MYOB AccountRight on our website, and we have no immediate plans to change that. Please note that due to monthly automatic software updates, you will need to download and reinstall that previous version of PC Edition if you want to access the offline file on an ongoing basis. Server Edition If you need to interact with old offline files on a regular basis, downloading and installing Server Edition will enable you to have offline access and it won’t be impacted by our monthly automatic updates. We strongly encourage customers to move their files online to ensure access to future features and security enhancements. In both cases (Server Edition and older versions of the PC Edition) there are risks. At some point, this software will be phased out, and the file will need to be moved online. After 17 June 2026, Server Edition will only receive bug fixes, not any future features or security enhancements. For perpetual licence holders, for now, you will continue to be able to access your file offline using one of the above-mentioned options. What happens to my specific version of an AR offline file? MYOB AccountRight Classic / V19 Can be opened in Classic/V19. The file will fail confirmation and become read-only, but you can still view files for audit purposes. MYOB AccountRight PC Edition From version 2026.5 onward, there will be no offline capability. Older versions remain available for download on our website, and backups can be restored to view and edit, provided you have an active licence (perpetual licence or current paying SaaS licence). Important: MYOB AccountRight auto-updates to the latest version each month, so if you do install an older version of PC Edition, this old version would need to be re-installed if you needed to access an offline file again in future. MYOB AccountRight Server Edition From version 2026.5 Server Edition will be offline-only. However, MYOB AccountRight Server Edition is not a long-term solution. At some point, this software will be phased out, and the file will need to be moved online. After 17 June 2026, Server Edition will only receive bug fixes, not any future features or security enhancements. How do I view previous years' data for an active file with a subscription? In MYOB AccountRight desktop You can override your current online live file by restoring an old backup OR download an old version of PC edition or install Server Edition and restore the backup locally (offline) In MYOB AccountRight browser – If your primary need is to view historical data for audits or reporting, the browser version is the simplest, most future-ready method. If you can’t see previous answers about installing PC or server edition You don't need any backup. Simply change the date range and you can view previous years' data directly. Financial year restrictions on reports have been removed — for example, you can now generate profit and loss comparative reports from 2012–2020 via browser (which is not possible in desktop). I upgraded from V19/Classic to the latest offline version, what does this change mean for me? We have three options available for you to consider: Move your file online. Take advantage of online capabilities that MYOB AccountRight has to offer. These include: Automatic cloud backups protecting your data without manual effort Live bank feeds that are more up to date Multi-user access — multiple people can work in your file at the same time Faster access to the latest software updates as soon as they are released Improved performance and upcoming AI-powered features Move to Server Edition – This retains offline access and interaction with your file for now. Please note: AccountRight Server Edition is not a long-term solution. At some point, this software will be phased out, and the file will need to be moved online. After 17 June 2026, Server Edition will not receive any future feature or security enhancements and will only receive the bug fixes. Return to Classic – You can view files in read-only mode for audit purposes, but you will not be able to edit offline. **Update 23/04 Hi all, apologies, I have made some incorrect statements in my replies, that I will work to update and correct. But I am updating here as well to provide clarity to all. This relates to MYOB AccountRight PC Edition, perpetual licence holders, or current subscribers exclusively using their file offline. From version 2026.5 onward, there will be no offline capability. Older versions remain available for download on our website, and backups can be restored to view and edit, provided you have an active licence (perpetual licence or current paying SaaS licence). **I had indicated in some of my replies, that access would be 'view only' but it is view AND edit. Important: MYOB AccountRight auto-updates to the latest version each month, so if you do install an older version of PC Edition, this old version would need to be re-installed if you needed to access an offline file again in future.

Stapled fund lookups in employee self-onboarding
6 MIN READ Supporting clients to enable Flare for employee commencement forms Clients using employee self-onboarding can reduce manual stapled super fund lookups by authorising Flare in ATO Access Manager. This is a one-off setup that allows Flare HR Pty Ltd, an MYOB company, to support stapled fund checks as part of the employee self-onboarding flow. Once set up, stapled fund checks can happen during onboarding instead of becoming a separate manual task when an eligible employee doesn’t choose a fund. That means less admin, fewer follow-ups and a smoother path from new starter to payroll-ready employee. Importantly, this authorisation is limited. It does not give Flare broad access to the client’s ATO account. It only gives Flare access to the employee commencement form permissions selected in ATO Access Manager. It also doesn’t change your access as the client’s accountant or bookkeeper. Why this matters. From 1 July 2026, employers can request stapled fund details at the same time they offer choice of fund. That allows the stapled fund check to happen during onboarding, instead of only after no choice is received. For clients using employee self-onboarding, enabling this access means they can: reduce manual stapled fund lookups provide employees with existing super fund details so they can make informed decisions while onboarding give employees a smoother onboarding experience avoid extra back-and-forth when a new employee does not nominate a fund keep using a process that is already included with MYOB Business and AccountRight subscriptions that include payroll Using Flare for stapled fund checks is optional. If a client prefers not to authorise Flare, they can keep doing stapled fund lookups manually through the ATO. What the client is agreeing to. Under the ATO’s business appointment model, the client is appointing Flare, an MYOB owned company, to perform the employee commencement form functions they select in Access Manager. That is the full scope of the authorisation. It does not give Flare access to lodgements, activity statements or the wider ATO account. Who can complete the authorisation? The authorisation must be completed inside the client’s own ATO Access Manager. A client can complete it if they are: the Principal Authority for the business, or an Authorised Administrator for that ABN in ATO Relationship Access Manager If you only have agent access through Online services for agents, you cannot appoint Flare on the client’s behalf through that channel. Business appointments and agent access are separate. Before you start Make sure the person completing the setup has: a Digital ID, such as myID Principal Authority or Authorised Administrator access for the client’s ABN in ATO Relationship Access Manager the correct client ABN ready, because the authorisation is completed one ABN at a time There is no bulk option, so these steps need to be repeated for each client business that needs authorisation. How to authorise Flare in ATO Access Manager A Principal Authority or Authorised Administrator for the client’s business can complete this setup. Go to Access Manager and click Continue with Digital ID. Click Select myID. Enter your myID email and click Get code. Use the code to verify your identity in the myID app. If you have access to multiple businesses, choose the client you’re authorising and click Continue. Check the ABN before you continue – the authorisation applies only to the business you select. Go to the Access Manager menu > Business Appointments > Who has access to my business, then click Appoint new business. In the Enter ABN field, enter 46607120892 (or enter Flare HR Pty Ltd in the Business Name field) and click Continue. Scroll down to Employee commencement form and select the options for View, Prepare and Lodge. Click Save. FLARE HR PTY LTD is now listed as an appointed business authorised to perform stapled super fund lookups for that client. Repeat these steps for each client you’re authorising. What happens after authorisation There is no major change to how onboarding starts. The client still invites a new employee to self-onboard. The employee completes their personal, banking, tax and super details through the secure onboarding flow. When the employee reaches the super step, Flare can support the stapled fund check as part of that process. If a stapled fund is returned, the employee sees that fund before other available options. Once the employee submits their details, the client only needs to complete the payroll details in the employee record. If a client does not want to authorise Flare The client can continue using employee self-onboarding, but stapled fund lookups will stay manual. The client can request stapled fund details through ATO online services, or you can request them on their behalf through Online services for agents. They will need to do that for each eligible new employee who does not nominate a fund, before the first super contribution is due. Key takeaways for client conversations it is a one-off setup, not something they need to repeat for every employee the permission is limited to the employee commencement form functions selected it does not expand Flare’s access across the client’s wider ATO account it does not change your advisor access through Online services for agents Flare is an MYOB company and part of the existing onboarding experience if they choose not to authorise it, they can still meet their obligations manually Email template If you can’t complete the authorisation yourself, you can send this email template to your relevant clients who holds Principal Authority or Authorised Administrator access for the business. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: One-off ATO setup for your employee onboarding Hi [Name], A one-off setup is required in ATO Access Manager for [Business name] to enable automated stapled super fund checks through Flare, MYOB’s employee self-onboarding solution. Completing this setup helps reduce manual stapled fund checks and supports your existing super obligations as part of the onboarding process. This needs to be completed by whoever holds Principal Authority or Authorised Administrator access for the business in ATO Relationship Access Manager. They’ll need a Digital ID, such as myID. Please complete these steps: Sign in to Access Manager at am.ato.gov.au using Digital ID. Go to Business Appointments > Who has access to my business. Click Appoint new business. In the Enter ABN field, enter 46607120892 (Flare HR Pty Ltd) and click Continue. Scroll down to Employee commencement form and select View, Prepare and Lodge. Click Save. The authorisation only covers the employee commencement form permissions above. It doesn’t give broader access to your ATO account, and it doesn’t change our access as your [accountant/bookkeeper]. If you'd prefer to keep super fund lookups manual, you will need to do this for each new employee that your onboard, missing out on the efficiency from the automated Flare process. No. Choice of fund obligations do not change. Does this change my access as the client’s advisor? No. Business appointments and agent access are separate. Is there an extra cost? No. Employee self-onboarding is already included with MYOB Business and AccountRight subscriptions that include payroll. What if the client has already appointed another provider? Flare still needs to be authorised in ATO Relationship Access Manager if the client wants stapled fund lookups to happen through employee self-onboarding. What if the Principal Authority has left the business? The business will need to re-establish Principal Authority in ATO RAM before the authorisation can be completed. MYOB Essentials is changing to MYOB Business

This change is part of our plan to deliver a simpler, more streamlined experience for small and medium-sized businesses. What’s changing Your bill from 1st February 2026 will look different. Subscription name: Bills will show "MYOB Business" instead of "MYOB Essentials". Software use: There will be no changes to how you use the software. Depending on the plan, you may notice new features and enhancements. Pricing: Your current rates will stay the same for now. We've applied an introductory discount and waived payroll usage fees to maintain your existing price point. In early 2026, we will look to change your fee structure to add payroll usage fees. You'll receive advance notice of any future pricing changes. Use of Premium Inventory or Online Payments may attract additional fees or charges. Please review the new MYOB Business Terms of Use. By continuing to use MYOB Business after 01 February 2026, you are agreeing to these updated Terms.
