Why are we making this change?

The end of AccountEdge support was announced in April 2022. Since then, MYOB ceased to provide new features, patches, compliance updates, or product support for the software.  AccountEdge is built on technology that no longer meets current security, performance, and compliance standards. Our focus is investing in developing newer technologies that better align with the evolving needs of our customers.

Our commitment to you

At MYOB, we're committed to supporting your business far into the future. Our goal is to deliver solutions that help you save time, increase efficiency, and collaborate better with your advisors. As we evolve our technology and services, our commitment to your success remains our top priority.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss your options, please contact us. Our team will work with you to make your transition as smooth as possible.

  • Hello Mike. "We announced the end of life" no you did not. We all know that tech has advanced, but some of us are able to use Accountedge for the foreseeable future. It is not "obsolete". It is still fit for purpose. we do not need upgrades or support. You have switched off "life support" without consulting the family. There are numerous examples of a community still able to use legacy software. Your statement "We feel that we have allowed enough time" falls flat. Perhaps your legal team can give us justification for failing to  honour the terms of the 2004 licence agreement? quote: "and allowed customers to continue to use it since then" Absolutely condescending nonsense, you are obliged to validate legitimate user files, unless you have a solid and uncontestable legal precedent. Your forced upgrade offers are of no interest, and fortunately there are work arounds available. Therein lies a good opportunity for MYOB to claw back a wee bit of respect, if indeed you care about a small section of your users. I did mention the situation that a competitor of yours, and having mentioned their name, was informed that I could not post that. I was under the impression that this was a "community' page.  Please deal with realty whereby a competitor with a name resembling "QuackBucks" was forced to honour their licence agreements. And please, stop sending me "badges" for posting. I have run out of room to display them.

Hi Wingnut - 'Quickbooks' was added to a block list due to its use in spam posts on the forum, offering fake support helplines.
You will notice that 'Xero' is not blocked and regularly mentioned by other members so it is not simply because they are a competitor.

This is also not a 'forced upgrade' as you claim. We’re not forcing customers to move to another MYOB solution. There are other options out there that you can move to, or as you say, there are workarounds through third parties that have been mentioned here in the forum as well.

It does not feel like there will be more value that we can gain through conversing here on the forum, if you would like to make a formal complaint, our policy and process is clearly available on our website myob.com/contactus

Hi Ang1972 , there hasn't been a revision to the inventory parameters you have mentioned. You could absolutely still connect with one of our sales consultants to understand whether we have a solution that would be the right fit for your business, you can find how to get in touch with them by visiting myob.com/contacts/sales

Hi Wingnut , on behalf of MYOB, I sincerely apologise for any inconvenience or frustration these changes may cause. This decision wasn’t made lightly, AccountEdge has served our customers for over two decades, however, as technology evolves, so too must our platforms.

AccountEdge is built on technology that no longer meets current security, performance, and compliance standards and because of this we have had to make the tough decision to decommission this legacy software.
To clarify, the end of AccountEdge support was announced in April 2022. Since then, MYOB ceased to provide new features, patches, compliance updates, or product support for the software.

As part of our commitment to security and compliance, MYOB will be decommissioning AccountEdge and FirstEdge. After 28 February 2026, activation and confirmation services will no longer be available and these products will become read-only when they next require a confirmation. This means you’ll still be able to view your data, but you won’t be able to make changes or create new entries.

We understand that transitions like these can raise important questions, especially around licensing and long-term access. I can assure you that these changes are aligned with the applicable MYOB Terms of Use, which allow for the discontinuation of legacy products as technology evolves. We’ve taken similar steps in the past with other legacy software to ensure our customers are supported by modern, secure platforms.

While MYOB AccountEdge was offered under a perpetual license, this license grants the right to access the software indefinitely, but it does not guarantee ongoing support, updates, or activation services. MYOB customers agree to the terms of use at the point of purchase or installation, not via a signed contract. The AccountEdge Terms & Conditions were superseded by the AccountRight Terms of Use.
Both the original AccountEdge T&Cs and the AccountRight documents include a clause under the “Term” section stating: “In the event that the publisher deems this product to be redundant, then the publisher may at its option supply you with an alternative product and terminate this license agreement.”.

MYOB is here to help you through this transition, and we have teams who are happy to discuss alternative solutions that meet your business needs. If you’d like to explore MYOB Business or AccountRight as a replacement, we can guide you through the options and migration process.
Please see here for further details. Move to MYOB Business from AccountRight or AccountEdge
