I am still completely unclear on the distinction between PC edition and Desktop.
To use the desktop version of AccountRight you have to download the PC version and then access your on-line file through it and at the moment you can access a local library and restore backup files the same way.
So, how are the PC version and the desktop version distinguished, to me they seem one-and the same. Given the PC version is being discontinued please provide very clear differentiation between PC and desktop versions.
I believe the browser version is logging into app.myob.com through your browser.
Please clarify in simple terms for simple people like me.

Hi ClareM ,
You're not simple at all, there are definitely a lot of scenarios a customer can be in for this announcement which has made it difficult to clearly communicate the change. The majority of customers will be using PC edition with smaller numbers using Server edition (SE). When we say 'online' in the announcement, we don't mean accessing via the browser, this is an option available today where a customer can choose to have their file either online or offline.
I want to clarify as well, PC edition/desktop is not being discontinued. The offline capability for desktop will become unavailable from June 17th.AccountRight desktop basically has 2 editions
- PC edition
- Server edition
There are some additional layers of complexity related to the licence a customer has and whether or not they have a current subscription. As of today, this looks like:
- A perpetual licence (they purchased the software to own)
- Without a subscription - offline full access, will receive updates to the latest version
- With a subscription - online or offline. Full access via desktop & browser
- Or a subscription licence (they pay a monthly fee for access to the software and live features)
- Without a subscription - offline only and read only access
- With a subscription - online or offline. Full access via desktop & browser
After June 17th when offline mode is unavailable, a customer on the latest version of AccountRight (2026.5 and beyond) this will look like:- A perpetual licence (they purchased the software to own)
- Without a subscription - no access to view offline files or restore offline backups
- With a subscription - Online only access. Full access via desktop & browser
- A subscription licence (they pay a monthly fee for access to the software and live features)
- Without a subscription - no access to view or restore offline files
- With a subscription - online only access. Full access via desktop & browser
Please let me know if you have any other questions, I'm sure that your questions, and hopefully my answers, will help the community to better understand how this change affects them.

So Mike_MYOB you're saying that Myob is making the perpetual licences, where we purchased the software to own, unusable? Surely that is not legal since we paid for their perpetual use?

Hi Mike_MYOB,
We use Accounts Right server edition and we cannot without a huge investment move to the online version as we have an API with a signficant volume of transactions set up.
However, we are very reliant on bank and credit card feeds. Will bank feeds still work for the Accounts Right server edition?
Thanks
David

Hello Mike, i have the SE addition with a subscription currently and i am not keen on moving my files to online. Am i right in saying after 30June i will not receiving updates on the tax tables as well? How long will it take before we are forced to go online?

Hi macfesto , that's correct, after version 2026.5 releases on 17th June, there will be no further updates for Server Edition.
As for the length of time that Server Edition will continue to work, this is an unknown. The technology that SE is built on may become incompatible with things like updated windows versions which would cause it to break.
There are no immediate plans from MYOB that I am aware to stop Server Edition.
