I agree, thank you for this post. THe usual speel / same answer about installing SE version and going forward with that for offline files BUT, hearing contradictory information about online files not working once SE is installed? Why does that happen? Please don't just copy and paste the instructions for downloading and installing SE version. Please actually address these concerns MYOB.
Hi HoneySandra and Salisbury
This has been answered in the forum a few times, but there have been a lot of comments about the offline mode change so I understand it is hard to stay up to date.
Ultimately, you should install and use PC edition for any online files
And use SE for offline files.
Server edition, is ultimately intended for customers hosting on their own server in an offline capacity. By having the file online, it is then hosted in MYOBs server, and there would be no reason/benefit to using server edition with an online file.
By using PC edition with your online files, this will also ensure that you continue to get updates every month.

Hi Mike,
Sorry but I looged a case 10 days ago and no one has got back to me!!
I am using happily AccountRight Standard AU 2020.3.1 I do NOT need any newer features as I just use it to log transactions, GST and for my BAS. Can I continue using this after the deadline of June 17th? or MUST this be upgraded to online version? I do not need payroll or anything online but I do notice that it confirms my company file when I use the files. Can you please confirm that I can continue using happily with the current features ONLY? Thank you

Hi Gordons2
Or you could just try Random_nuggets solution below. Given you haven't been updating a fairly old version, then I doubt you would have the auto upgrade feature anyway but just in case:
A simpler, more surgical method is as follows:
- a) Open the folder in which MYOB is installed. Typically this will be in:
C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\Programs\MYOB\AccountRight
- b) Inside that folder you will find a program file named Update.exe. Simply rename this program file to, say, "Update-disabled.exe". Voila! No more updates!. When AccountRight is next started, it will fail to find its auto-update program, and then carry on running the software as is.
I have successfully tested this approach since the AR 2026.3 release (PC edition).
Cheers

Hi Liz,
Thank you for the suggestion. On checking I do not have the auto upgrade active.
Much appreciated for advice in this MYOB troubling time.
Cheers,
Gordon

Hi Gordons2 , sorry the team have a high volume of cases at the moment and are behind on the usual time to respond.
You do not have to move your file online.
If you want to continue using your file offline, then you will need to install AccountRight server edition which will continue to work with an offline mode after June 17th, this software will not receive any further updates after June.- Gordons21 month agoMember
Hi Mike, thanks for getting back to me. Can you explaine where I get this server edition from? I have been on chat and they say to upgrade to acount right plus.
Option – AccountRight (Desktop Version) your current version
We are offering $33per file for 24 month , which is an 80% discount from the standard price of $165. No migration required . Is this it and seems too good to be true the price? Thanks

Hi Mike,
I understand about the online files and have already switched over some of my client's offline files to online. However, the rest are just too small to warrant a subscription. There's no payroll, no bank feeds, just very small businesses keeping track of their transactions.
I was wondering, can I install Server Edition on another pc/ laptop and run the offline files from there? Would doing this eliminate any problems there might be with the Server Edition interfering with my current online files?
I also have a perpetual licence, original serial number, and many databases yet to be used, as well as files I have to keep for 7 years tax law. Using a laptop would actually work really well for me.
Also, how long should this process take, to put Server Edition on and transfer my files there? I have heard someone say up to 2 weeks.
Thanks.

Hi HoneySandra
You have both PC edition and Server Edition operating on the same computer/laptop which might be easier. But if you wanted to have PC edition (online) in your computer and SE (offline) on a laptop to keep them separate, that will also work just fine.
You can even provide yourself some additional safety by keeping an offline backup on both the Computer and the Laptop, that way if one of them got damaged or corrupted, you would still have another to access.
If you install both PC and SE on the same device, they have different coloured icons on the desktop to help differentiate them and you could also rename the shortcuts to something like 'Online' & 'Offline' if that helps.
Server Edition will also be perfect for just viewing an offline backup during the 7 year compliance period. It will be quick to install and open, it should work the same as your experience with PC edition.
There is a great post from another customer here which explains how to install SE and manage both offline (SE) and online (PC) files.
