Blog Post
Dear MYOB, many thanks for making this ridiculous and unwanted change at this time of the year.
You certainly know how to get your unfortunate users off side (YET AGAIN)!
I have a file that is off line for a smsf running on the Accounts Right software that was purchased and owned by me.
I now find that whenever I want to open this file, I have to go through the tedious process of opening a previous version & note that this option is going to be removed.
If I install an older version, then your lousy automatic update system takes over & I end up where I started from.
I also have another business file that is on line. As the business is being wound down, I wish to close down the subscription but still need archive access.
It is not always possible or practical to work with an online file, particularly when travelling.
I trust that you will come up with a solution?
26 years with MYOB, not happy, not impressed!
Tony.

Hi AKMTony
I run multiple versions including live by using the below method posted by Gavin12345 as follows:
Unfortunately MYOB are not going to change their policy just because users want them to. Now just as there are ways to stop Windows 10 automatic updates, there are also ways to stop MYOB automatic updates, or at least work around them.
I keep using AR2020.1 even though MYOB has updated itself to AR2021.4
Take a look where MYOB installs itself - in a folder called AccountRight in a path like this:
C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\Programs\MYOB\AccountRight
Inside that folder is another folder called app-2021.300.244119 or similar - this contains the files that run MYOB - AR2021.3.
Copy this folder app-2021.300.244119 and paste under C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\Programs\MYOB\ and rename it to AccountRight 2021.3
Delete your desktop shortcut and create a new shortcut to HuxleyApplication.exe inside the new folder.
From this point your shortcut will run AR2021.3 even though MYOB Updates to AR2021.4 or .5 etc
When you are ready to upgrade, repeat the above and create a folder for AccountRight 2021.4 etc and change the shortcut to the next version.
You may need to download older versions to do this if they aren't on your system. You can leave the 2026.5 version to run normally with auto updates and keep separate Desktop shortcuts for the offline files.
Cheers
Liz

Hi AKMTony , Liz has provided a possible solution below but MYOB would suggest that you install AccountRight Server Edition rather than trying to repeatedly use an older version of PC edition.
To your point, it needs to repeated and would be frustrating.
Server Edition still supports offline files, the main consideration is that this will not have any further updates now since the final release of 2026.5.
You can download Sever Edition from our downloads page here- Liz_A19 days agoSuper User
Just letting you know this method doesn't need to be repeated. Once you have correctly set up the short cut, nothing further needs to be changed.

Dear Liz, could you please then instruct me as to the correct way to setup the short cut?
I re-installed version 2026.4 just now. I opened my file to check the data was up to date.
Inside of a minute I received a message that the program had updated to 2026.5.
I do not want to upgrade the program as I then have to go through the previously described process of accessing my off line file.
Regards Tony.
PS, now installed the server edition. Migrating my fund to BGL Simple Fund 360 as I have had it with MYOBs lack of support & care. I will also close down my online file in due course for the same reason.
