I feel very strongly about this, too. I agree with all the above comments by camvas_myob.
I question the legality of MYOB suddenly removing our ability to make our own back-ups. Especially when we were given such short notice, and it was done 2 weeks before the end of financial year. These are financial records which must be kept (and be accessible) for 7 years.
If we choose to stop using MYOB (at some time in the future), then we will no longer have access to our file. That just seems plain wrong to me.
Yes, we can print and save reports, but we have been encouraged to upload supplier invoices to MYOB to keep a record of them - and this has been very useful.
I have made the (somewhat backward) choice to no longer save my supplier invoices into MYOB from 1/7/2026, but instead to save them as PDF's on my local computer. It won't be as convenient, but it will give me control over those records.
Hi 6203 - you might like to check out
https://mydataxport.com/ - an offline backup system, either regular or one-off backups. They have been doing Xero backups for a few years now, and have recently released MYOB backups. I know these guys personally and can vouch for them - NZ based.
