6 MIN READ What is AI BAS? AI BAS is an AI-powered BAS solution by MYOB that turns BAS from a quarterly task into continuous progress so BAS is prepared as you go, and every quarter's sorted. AI BAS connects to your existing MYOB Business data and works progressively in the background, surfacing what needs attention early - missing docs, potential GST issues and uncategorised transactions and providing clear AI explanations as new transactions come in. The new dashboard shows your readiness percentage climbing as you go, and every approved decision updates your books automatically - keeping your books and BAS in sync. You can accept, reject or edit every suggestion before it touches your books. AI BAS does the heavy lifting; you stay firmly in control of every decision. So when it's time to lodge, you're ready to go. Who is AI BAS for? AI BAS is designed for GST-registered Australian businesses, and accountants and bookkeepers that need to prepare regular BAS. From May 2026, AI BAS is available to non-employing businesses using MYOB Business Lite or Pro with active bank feeds. Initial releases focus on simple BAS scenarios (G1, 1A, 1B) and cash-based accounts, with support expanding over time. AI BAS is relevant to Australian-based businesses only. When will I be able to access AI BAS? From 27 May 2026, AI BAS is available to eligible non-employing MYOB Business Lite and Pro customers in Australia. Current MYOB Business Customers can sign up via MyAccount as an add-on to their MYOB subscription. AI BAS will also be available to purchase with an MYOB Business Lite/Pro subscription from June, 2026. We'll continue to broaden access throughout 2026. How can I access AI BAS? If you were part of the AI BAS (Beta), AI BAS will already be active in your MYOB file. You'll have exclusive access for a limited time, and we'll let you know how to continue with a subscription before that date. If you're new to AI BAS, you can subscribe via MyAccount as an add-on to your existing MYOB Business Lite or Pro subscription. AI BAS is currently available to non-employing Australian businesses with GST registration, active bank feeds and simple, cash-based BAS scenarios (G1, 1A, 1B). We'll continue to broaden access throughout 2026 including employing business. How will my accountant or bookkeeper work in with AI BAS? AI BAS is built to work with accountants, bookkeepers and BAS agents. Your advisor will use their regular access to your MYOB Business file and, if AI BAS is turned on, they'll be able to access AI BAS, review AI suggestions, make adjustments and help you lodge. Because AI BAS keeps your BAS prepared throughout the quarter - surfacing missing documents, GST anomalies and uncategorised transactions as they arise - your file is cleaner before your advisor even opens it. The new dashboard shows your readiness percentage, so your advisor can quickly see whether you're on track or need attention. When you or your advisor approve a suggestion in AI BAS, the corresponding transaction in your MYOB books updates automatically — so the books and AI BAS stay in sync, with no reconciliation between the two. You can also export a CSV of BAS-related transactions and a BAS summary for your advisor to review before lodging with the ATO. Does AI BAS lodge my BAS with the ATO? No. AI BAS does not lodge directly with the ATO. It helps you prepare ATO-ready outputs including flagging potential GST issues, summary totals and downloadable reports from a dedicated BAS summary page. You or your BAS agent can review and enter the figures into the ATO or agent portal (for example, via myGov) and lodge as usual. You and your advisor stay in control of the final lodgment step while AI BAS does the heavy lifting of BAS preparation in the background. How accurate is AI BAS, and who is responsible for my BAS? AI BAS uses MYOB's data and AI models to help categorise transactions, flag potential GST issues, surface missing documents, and explain its suggestions with the goal of reducing errors and making BAS preparation easier and less stressful. AI BAS will learn from our decisions and improve over time. However, like any AI system, it can generate incorrect information, so you must always review the results and seek professional advice where appropriate. MYOB is not a registered tax agent or BAS agent, and you remain responsible for accuracy and compliance when lodging your BAS with the ATO. AI BAS is designed to provide you with control and clear explanations, so you and your advisor can review and fix anything that doesn't look right before you lodge. When I approve a suggestion, what happens to my books? When you accept a GST suggestion or categorise a transaction in AI BAS, the corresponding transaction in your MYOB updates automatically. This means your books and your BAS stay in sync without you needing to manually update transactions in two places. Your books remain the single source of truth. What happens if I reject a GST suggestion? If you reject an AI BAS suggestion, the original GST code on your transaction stays as-is in your books, nothing changes. You can also edit the suggestion to a different GST code or category if the AI got it wrong but you know the correct treatment. AI BAS won't apply any changes until you approve them. Should I use AI BAS for my actual Q3 BAS this quarter? Yes. AI BAS is designed to help you prepare your BAS as you go. Instead of opening AI BAS only at quarter-end, you can action small tasks as they appear in your new dashboard. By the time it's time to lodge, it's just a final check - not hours of clean-up. As always, review all results before lodging and seek independent professional advice where appropriate. You remain responsible for accuracy and compliance when lodging your BAS with the ATO. How much does AI BAS cost? Is there a free trial? AI BAS is available as a paid add-on to your MYOB Business Lite or Pro subscription. Pricing for non-employing businesses is tiered by transaction volume per BAS period starting from $25/month. I was in the AI BAS (Beta). Do I need to pay now? You will have exclusive access to AI BAS for a limited time. After that date, you'll need an active AI BAS subscription via MyAccount to keep using AI BAS. Subscriptions for non-employing businesses start from $25/month, with pricing tiered by transaction volume. I wasn't in the AI BAS Beta. How do I get AI BAS? If you're a current MYOB customer and new to AI BAS, you can subscribe via MyAccount as an add-on to your existing MYOB Business Lite or Pro subscription. AI BAS is currently available to non-employing Australian businesses with GST registration and simple, cash-based BAS scenarios (G1, 1A, 1B). If you are not an MYOB customer, AI BAS will be available to purchase with an MYOB subscription on our website from June, 2026. We'll continue to broaden access throughout 2026. How am I billed for AI BAS? AI BAS is sold as a 12‑month subscription, annual commitment and is billed monthly in advance on the same invoice as your MYOB Business subscription, on your normal billing date. If you subscribe mid-month, a pro-rata charge for the partial month appears on your next invoice alongside your first full month. Can I cancel AI BAS? Yes. You can cancel your AI BAS subscription at any time via MyAccount. If you cancel during your annual commitment period, you'll retain access until the end of that period, with monthly billing continuing until then. Is there a free trial for AI BAS? We're not offering a general free trial at launch. AI BAS (Beta) and selected customers will have an exclusive free access for a limited time to try the full experience. MYOB might offer promotions for the purchase of AI BAS in the future. These will feature on our website or in communication we send to you.
