Tablet compatible?

Hi, I’ve tried looking in the community & google but not sure of the answer! Can Solo be used on a tablet? I’m not tech savvy but would have thought as Solo is app based it could be used on a tablet but I’ve read it can’t be. I don’t own a tablet so can’t check & don’t want to purchase one if it won’t work. Thanks in advance!

  • G'day MPebc, props for doing your research first!

You’re absolutely right to think that, since Solo is app-based, it should run on a tablet. And technically, it can, but there are a few things worth knowing before you decide to invest in one.

Solo’s not optimised for tablet-sized screens
You might find that some page layouts don’t scale properly or feel a bit clunky to navigate. It’s not built with tablets in mind, so it can make things a bit fiddly day to day.

You’ll still need a phone for some things
Logging in uses two-factor authentication, and one method of authentication available is SMS. If you wanted to use this method, so you'd still need your phone handy to get those one-time codes. Biometrics and 3rd party authentication apps can also be used, so this might not be a deal-breaker for you.

Tap to Pay likely won’t work
On the topic of deal-breakers, most tablets don’t have the right hardware for contactless payments, which means you’d miss out on Solo’s built-in Tap to Pay feature, one of our handiest tools for getting paid on the go.

So in short: it can work, but the experience won’t be as smooth, and you might miss out on some of the features that make Solo shine.
