Raff,
A working ODBC driver does not exist for AR 2011/2012. Given the raft of reported bugs ( > 40) the last time I looked, and the apparent lack of prioritisation in addressing the issues, I would think we're at least 6 months away from a reliable version for the 2011/2012 product.
Sidenote: the AR 19.7 "compliance" update has also made some changes to the ODBC driver, so you may notice some issues in this area as well. MYOB have not acknowledged what they have changed, but some add-on developers have experienced issues. I think they relate to the write back functionality though, not data read.
Tread carefully, and only update/upgrade where necessary.
Re changes to ODBC 19.7 affecting write-back messages: now acknowledged here

Mike,
Acknowledgement seems to be to Developer partners only. What about everyone else? I stopped being a developer partner over 12 months ago.

Hi Mike
I think that is in the Developer only boards - MYOB is not letting anyone else know that they have stuffed up yet again.

The timeline for the ODBC driver was to have the major issues fixed by the end of May then the less major issues sorted by the end of June and another batch fixed by the end of July.
However none of the proposed fixes have been released to this date, the latest announcement a week or two ago was that a new timeline will be released soon outlining when these fixes will occur. Currently the lack of an ODBC driver is preventing client who a lot of people who use 3rd party solutions from upgrading.

Not only does the lack of a usable driver preventing existing users of 3rd party solutions & M-Powered services from upgrading (given the disaster of the 2011 release they are probably happy about that) but it has prevented developers from offering their solutions to the users of 2011/12. I have spoken to a few developers and it looks like the Developer Conference will be fairly lively.
