Make sure you can upload files/PDFs into expenses

At the moment you can upload 'photos' into the expenses and it completely ignores other file types like PDFs (which a majority of online receipts are processed in). I'm actually really confused why MYOB Solo didn't support PDF uploads from the beginning.

Rather than just being forced to select 'From Photos' or 'Take Photo' there should also be an option for 'Upload file' from which you can upload PDF's and other file types that are common for invoices.

    Hey Michael161,

Not a problem at all 🙌 I also missed this in my last reply, but if you have not already, you can actually set up Bunnings supplier invoices to be sent directly into Solo. Super handy for keeping everything in one spot. Here’s the link to get that sorted: Bunnings Supplier Connect setup.🛠️

    Thanks,

    Hi Hannah,

Thanks for the reply and that's a relief to hear the update will be effective soon.

    Cheers

    Hi Michael161

I hear you, you’re absolutely right that most receipts these days land as PDFs, and we know how important that makes this update.

The good news is you won’t be waiting until EOFY. If everything stays on track, PDF uploads will be live before the end of September. That means you’ll be able to start cataloguing those expenses soon and won’t be stuck with a backlog.

    Thanks,
    Hannah

This is a huge oversight. It renders the app effectively useless for capturing expenses in my case. "lots of receipts come through as PDFs", how about "MOST receipts come through as PDFs". 90% of my receipts are in PDF and my guess is this would be the case for a lot of people these days. Even Bunnings receipts (pretty much the only in store purchases I make) are e-receipts that are produced through the Bunnings app on my phone when I'm in store. And this was the primary reason I've been looking for a book keeping app - for expenditure record keeping.  As a furniture maker invoicing to my clients is pretty straight forward but my expenditure is far more varied and complicated. I even got semi audited on my outgoings last FY. Do I dump the app or wait and hope the next release happens before the end of 2026 EOFY and let expenses build up un-cataloged until then?

  • Hey phillipdesmond

    Thanks for sharing this 🙌

You’re right, lots of receipts come through as PDFs, the good news is we’re expanding expense capture to cover more than just photos. Soon you’ll be able to upload PDFs directly into your expenses 🎉

I don’t have a date to share just yet, but it’s lined up for our next release if all goes to plan. Keep an eye out.

    Thanks,
    Hannah
