GST your way - Learn about your new pricing superpower 🦸

Hi Solmates!

Liz-Solo​ and I shared the good news earlier about your brand-new GST superpowers, here’s the full lowdown on everything you need to know about GST in Solo.

Before you dive in: if you’re not registered for GST and your Solo is set up that way, you can skip this for now — these settings won’t apply. But GST registration can change over time, so keep this guide handy for when you need it.

Things to Know

GST settings in Solo live in a few different spots, so you may need to set (or re-set) a couple of things to get the smoothest experience. We’ve laid out scenarios for Solmates brand new to GST (or Solo!), and for the long-timers who’ve already been using saved items before this feature rolled out.

Overall Settings

First things first: make sure your “global” GST settings are good to go.

1. Tap More, then Categories
2. Scroll or search for Sales, then tap it
3. Tap the three dots, then Edit
4. Confirm the Tax code is set to GST
   

    

5. Tap Save

Invoice Settings

Next up: invoice-level settings. This determines how GST shows up on invoices, and how new items are priced by default.

You’ll also notice we’ve updated some of the wording (fancy, we know). Here’s what the options mean:

• Include GST: The price you enter includes tax — what you type is the final amount.
• Add GST: We’ll add tax on top of the price you enter.

To set your preference:

1. Tap More, then Invoice settings
2. Tap Tax display
3. Choose your preferred option
   

    

4. Tap Save

Heads up: Changing this won’t update invoices you’ve already created or sent. Your records stay tidy.

Item-Level Settings (New Items)

Once your settings are sorted, you’re ready to build an invoice with new items. Here’s how to set them up:

1. Tap Money in, then the +
2. Tap Create invoice
3. Tap Add item, then the +
4. Enter your details (description, unit type, price, etc.)
5. Tap Item options
6. Confirm the Tax code is GST and the Price setting matches your preference (Add GST / Include GST)
   

    

7. Tap Save, then Add to invoice

Existing Item Settings

If you’ve been using Solo for a while and already have items saved — good news: you don’t need to change a thing. Their pricing will behave correctly based on whatever you choose (Include GST / Add GST).

But if you love a tidy, uniform setup, here’s how to update them:

1. Tap More, then Products and services
2. Choose the item you want to edit
   (Hint: if it shows “No GST” under the price, it needs an update!)
3. Tap the pencil icon ✏️ to edit
4. Tap Item options, then switch the GST code to Add GST or Include GST
5. Tap Save
