MYOB Business/Essentials Idea Exchange

  Live accounts seems to be purely mouse controlled. It is very difficult (in fact, impossible) to use the keyboard when, for example, allocating bank transactions or recording data within spend/receive money and general journals.   It would be infinitely easier to be able to TAB through the bank feeds, allocating account names and then TABing to the next line. The TAB key could skip between the 'Description' and then the 'Allocate or Match' and then the 'GST' fields.   The same sort of function should be made available within the spend/receive money and general journal entries. It would be so much simpler to TAB through all the required fields, entering data as you go with the final TAB taking the user to 'Save' where upon the user can simply press the 'Enter' key.   An Ideas Exchange posting by username 'DavidST' back in August 2011 made a similar request. When coding transactions, I first go through and get rid of all the transfers between accounts (which should probably have been done automatically, but that's a whole different idea). Every time I add a transfer, it returns me to the top of the list, so I have to scroll down again, and try to find where I was.   Makes my head want to explode. Dramatic I know.   It would be a godsend if the scroll position was remembered and retained after the page reloads. Hi. I have a large number of clients who, when receiving a payment for an invoice, receive a lesser amount due to commissions paid or expenses incurred. For example, a client who has created an invoice for say, $85 only receives a payment of $79 - the remaining $6 was an expense item to American Express (Merchant Fees). Another example: a client creates an invoice for $150 for accommodation but only receives $120 - the remaining $30 was commission paid to an online accommodation company.   At the moment I am creating general journal entries for my clients who ring - weekly - unable to correctly allocate their receipts.    Ideally, when matching a payment to an invoice, I would like to be able to include an expense line item which then equates to the amount actually received.   Also, to be able to split the accounts with both an income and an expense line item.   This would save me a huge amount of time (and money) - and allow the client to correctly allocate both the income and expenses.   "Matching Deposits and Including Expense Line Items" ... When the Transaction History is opened the default starting date seems to be 1 July 2013, rather than a remembered previous date or a default date set by the user. Can this be fixed/changed? It seems silly to be downloading all the YTD transactions when mostly all you want to see is the last few days or perhaps the current month. Perhaps allocating bank feeds to a customer name or a supplier name is the way allocations should work instead of allocating directly to a particular invoice or bill.   There are a number of reasons why this would be preferable.   FIrslty, it would solve the small screen/window issues we are having when allocating to a long list of bills and invoices.   It would also solve the issue of payments not matching exact dollar value amounts.   Lastly, it will also solve the issue of not raising an invoice until the invoice has been paid in full.   Thanks,   "Allocate bank feed to a customer or supplier instead of invoice or bill"   ... I am a Chartered Accountant and have a number of clients using MYOB Essentails.     We find it very frustrating that when clients have allocated transactions to general ledger codes directly in the bank transactions screen that they do not change the description when doing this.  The description field therefore remains as whatever appeared on the bank statement.   Even if the client added a note to the transaction, while helpful this is still not the best outcome as the note field is not exported when sending the information to our general ledger system.   In attempting to do this ourselves we can see that it is actually impossible to change the description while in the bank transactions screen.  The only way to change it appears to be after the transaction has been allocated it must be found again and then edited at that point.   We don't understand why this is not possible to do at the same time as allocating the transaction.     MYOB competitors products actually force a person to enter an appropriate description before the transaction is entered but with Essentials they can code them willy nilly, and all we might see is a cheque number.   Luke   "MYOB Essentials - Change description field in coding screen" ... Transfers betwen different bank accounts often do not have the same date.   In this case MYOB will not match the transactions, despite ALL the other transaction information being identical.   Can we please have a Date Threshold setting for transfers so that we can control the matching process as follows:   IF the AMOUNTS match AND the REFERENCE fields match AND the transaction dates ARE WITHIN X DAYS  then offer it as a potential matching transaction for the user to confirm.   By all means leave the default behaviour as (DATES MUST MATCH) but for more capable users, the above feature would make life a hell of a lot easier when dealing with inter-account bank transfers.   thanks .. When we are setting our new clients up on Liveaccounts it is very difficult to predict when the livefeed will start.   We have some clients who don't want to go back and enter in the first part of the year (they will just collate their data from both systems at 30 June).   For example, if we could set a date at least 2 weeks into the future (such as start of month, or BAS period) then it would be easier to merge the clients onto liveaccounts.   "Bank Feed as at a particular date" ... This is only a little gripe only, but may be easily fixed. We have been lucky enough to grow our business over this last year, and this has led to quite a large number of Bank Transactions over the year mounting up. Because of this, I have noticed that if I select the Bank Transaction option, it loads all accounts, for the full year, and I need to wait for a little while before they all load up to display. I can do nothing in the interim but wait. In nearly every case, I only need to see a single month at the most, and usually only one Bank Account at a time. Just wondering if, like in so many other cases in MYOB essentials, the system could wait for me to choose the options before displaying? I don't mind it selecting the full year and all Bank Accounts, as that may be of use to other Users, but I would find it helpful if it did not dive straight in to do that. Hello, After using Business Basics for many years I would like to see the current bank account balance displayed on the actual Essentials Bank Transactions screen, rather than having to print a Bank Transactions report every time or looking at the balance on the Dashboard.   This feature in Business Basics was great to visually see the bank account balance on screen and know where you were at during anytime.   thanks ,   UCC   "Display Balance on Bank Transactions Screen" ... I have had numberous bookkeepers and business owners (used to being able to choose or enter an account code) complain that can be extremely slow if the expenditure being allocated is not in the usual expense code's first drop down list.  You have to scroll down click more then scroll down further.  This can be very time consuming if doing more than a couple of allocations  If you knew the account code...or a word from the account name...you should be able to enter these and narrow down the drop-down list or even better get the actual account to enter.   "choosing an account via drop downlist is extremely time consuming can we have it prefill from account code or name?" ... Is the wording incorrect for this? It's supposed to be not taxable but comes up in the transaction listing as GST Free. It should say the correct tax code as FRE and N-T are different in the AccountRight programs and when it comes to lodging the BAS it should be clear.     Also, I use negative income tax codes in MYOB for contra expenses deducted from sales - it would be useful to be able to add tax codes in essentials.   "Update tax codes in MYOB Essentials"     ...
