tall emu reviews

Hi.. Was just wondering if anyone is using Tall Emu and integrates it with MYOB.

How are you finding it..

I would like a better inventory forecasting system and a CRM that integrates with MYOB so we are looking at this as an option, some recent reviews on the website worry me though..

If anyone could share their experience, it would be much appreciated. :-)

THanks

Thanks for taking the time to reply Simon. If you have some more time I'd be interested to know how it made the path from quoting to ordering to invoicing more efficient? Did you find the numbering problematic eg different customers having the same number for a quote an order and an invoice?

    Cheers Kylie

    Hi

We are still using TE. The problems we had when it was owned by MYOB were quickly resolved, once back with the original owners. The system is running as it should and integrates, as they describe, with Xero

    Hey Kylie,
Yes still with Tall Emu, if you are set on needing to stick with MYOB for accounting, Tall Emu is your best bet for extending functionality. If you aren't in too deep and have the ability to switch to an all-in-one system with accounting CRM/ERP all on one platform, it may be worth looking into it. That being said if you are willing to persevere you will get to the point of Tall Emu being stable and working well.

I am amazed that we were running our business just on MYOB, Tall Emu unlocks a lot of features. You have to be creative, Tall Emu doesn't always tell you how to use their system, you figure out what can make with custom layouts/filters/automations. Tall Emu is tailored towards making their system fit your business rather than the other way around, makes it hard to set up and confusing to start but once you figure that out and all the implementation issues are out of the way it is great.

RE: MYOB selling back to the original owner, my impression is that there was a bit of a culture clash. They didn't ditch it because it was bad as much as it wasn't what they were hoping it would be. There is a reason MYOB is so locked down with functionality, more freedom for the user means more support required, which means very switched on tech support not something a Billion-dollar business can handle... Very different business model. That being said when they decided to ditch it things were going very bad we were looking at moving away but as others have said issues have been resolved under new/old management.

    Hi Kylie,

    Apologies for the late reply.

Numbering isn't an issue for us.

The default is that quote get a Q prefix, sales orders an S, invoices an I etc. That is the default setting and can be changed. The numbers after the prefix aren't synced either.

The improvement in efficiency is that once a part has been quoted successfully and a customer PO is received it can be instantly turned into a sales order confirmation. From the sales order a supplier purchase order can be generated (or added to an existing supplier PO) if the part isn't in stock. When the part is in stock we can mark it as "shipped" and the invoice is generated automatically. To do all that in MYOB alone requires a lot more work.

This is only a small part of what TE is capable of but we find it extremely useful.

Most of our supplier purchases are imports with long lead times. I've also found TE useful for filtering supplier purchase orders to see what we have on back order.
