Moving from AccountEdge to MYOB Business Lite

I'm a sole trader with just two clients, and I use cash-based accounting. I send invoices for my work.

In AccountEdge I create an order, which looks like an invoice, and send it to a client. When payment arrives I convert the order to an invoice, and change the date to the date of the payment.

I've looked around Business Lite but don't see anything like a Sales Order. I see that I can create a quote, which I can later turn into an invoice, and think I should be able to use this the same way I've been using Orders in AccountEdge, except that I need the text "GST Invoice" to appear on the quote. Can I add this somewhere?

And am I stuck with it saying "Quote" at the top of the form or can I modify that?

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi SteveB0000

Many move from AccountRight to a cheaper product like Business Lite and then find it cannot do half the things the earlier program could. AccountEdge is similar to AccountRight. Given it doesn't cost you anything to use AccountEdge, personally I would stick with that even if Business Lite does eventually allow Orders - see here.

Thanks for the reply. I have no problem with AccountEdge but it will soon not be viable for me. It already doesn't run in the latest versions of macOS and I run a macOS 10.14.6 virtual machine inside Parallels Desktop in order to run it. But this only works because my MacBook Pro has an Intel chip. I'll be upgrading sometime soon and the latest Macs use Apple's own chips (M1, M2 etc.) and can't run earlier versions of macOS, even with Parallels installed.
So I'm still looking for a workaround for the situation I posted.
