Transferring payroll to another computer

HI there

Wanting to know if there is any option for MYOB payroll from either inside Accountright (current version 2020.1) or in the cloud.  With working from home during the lock down I have no access to Payroll as it resides on the hard drive of my PC at work.  Have tried installing it on my computer at home - copied the whole folder from my work PC on to USB - but cannot get the home copy to read the work information.  Hoping there is an option to upgrade to a cloud based version or a module that can be added to Accountright.

Thanks in advance for your help. Hope you are all safe and well :)

MYOB Payroll (NZ) is designed to be a desktop-only product and thus doesn't offer cloud functionality. However, if you are needing to use Payroll on another computer outside of the office, you would be looking into NZ Payroll Support Note: Moving MYOB Payroll to a new computer

When you want to move back to the Office it would be a case of completing that process again but on different computers i.e. back up the home one, move to the office and then restore.

    Hi Drkatz65

When restoring a Payroll backup it overrides the current payroll database you have open. So you want to create a new file within Payroll on the home computer to restore over the top of. This process is covered in the linked Support Note (under Step 3: Copy and restore the backup on your new computer).

  • That makes sense and I will give it a try - the only thing I would question is that i have to log in to Payroll before I can restore a backup and currently the only login on my home computer is for the demo company - will this right itslef and bring my compnay details across once i restore the backup?

    Thanks

    Hi Drkatz65

You will also need your serial number to enter into the new computer.

Yes - you can transfer it back to the origianl computer later on - by restoring the backup over the top of the existing payroll on that computer.
