NEW FINANCEAL YEAR HELP

We are running Account Plus V18 and need to run last septembers BAS. Cant select 2025 option to run as it only gives option to do year 2024 so assume we need to start a new financial year.

When we run this Start New Financial Year option it gets to 1,444 records then stops responding. Have tried a couple of times with the same result.

Have no idea what we can do so appreciate any advice

    Hey compmore1,

You’re right that you’ll need to roll into the 2025 financial year before you can run the September BAS. If the Start New Financial Year process keeps freezing at the same point, that usually indicates the file is carrying more data than Accounting Plus v18 can comfortably handle during rollover. A practical way to resolve this is to reduce the file size first by purging older transactions you no longer need in detail. Once the file is lighter, try starting the new financial year again and it should progress as expected.

    Cheers,

    Doreen

  • Hi compmore1

I would suggest you also run File - Verify Company File and Optimise Company File to check for errors and further reduce the file size. I also suggest that if you haven't finalised your 2024 year and will need it left open for final adjustments, that you make a copy of the file to rollover and do your BAS report in the rolled over copy. This can either be deleted or kept for for your records while your continue with your 2024 file until you are ready to finalise it and rollover to the 2025 year.

If you can't get the rollover to work even after reducing the file size, then contact FGH Tables as they may be able to assist with this.

    Cheers

  • Hi compmore1

You will probably get the same thing when optimising. This is NORMAL with MYOB. Not Responding is common during verification, Optimisation and FY Rollover - do not interrupt as a process is still running in the background - only the main process is not responding. Leave it as the process can take hours esp with larger files. If you interrupt it you corrupt the file.

Find out how to check if a process is still running on your operating system as this varies between versions.  Only end the process if it has stopped completely, ie not consuming any CPU etc.

    Regards

    Gavin
