tall emu reviews

Hi.. Was just wondering if anyone is using Tall Emu and integrates it with MYOB.

How are you finding it..

I would like a better inventory forecasting system and a CRM that integrates with MYOB so we are looking at this as an option, some recent reviews on the website worry me though..

If anyone could share their experience, it would be much appreciated. :-)

THanks

  • Hi Jayemee,

We have implimented Tall Emu in our business 6 months ago having being long time MYOB users.

The Tall Emu CRM does have a lot of functionality however we are finding serious syncing issues with MYOB.

One of the the most annoying problems is if we invoice a client before 11AM it back dates the invoice to the day before. We have had a number of rounding error situations where Tall Emu creates an invoice and when it syncs with MYOB the values change.

These are still outstanding problems in which the support team continually tells us they are working on it but at this stage is still unresolved after drawing their attention to it months ago.

We chose Tall Emu as a CRM platform as it was supposed to be a good system to intergrate with MYOB but there is definitely ongoing integration issues.

    Thanks Kelvin

Hi Kelvin4172 , the API routine to post invoices to Accountright will only allow net line amounts to be posted,  and it then applies its own calculations to arrive at gst-inclusive values. I think rounding errors are common and unavoidable.

      Hi Kelvin

How have you progressed with your Tall Emu integration? I am just starting out and after 1.5 months I still have not been able to get it integrated with my woocommerce site and myob.

For example the MYOB isn't recognising customer payments when importing from CRM.

Just wanted to see if things get better over time.

      Cheers, Butch

    Hi jayemee ,

Tall Emu integrates seamlessly with Accountright and MYOB Business, I am not sure what your concerns are, feel free to share them here and we can cover them accordingly. Alternatively, start a free trial here, and instructions to connect to MYOB are found here, this may be a good way to clear any concerns that you may have.

    Regards,

    Bruno

    • Hi Bruno,

I am interested to know how many implementations of Tall Emu you have done and if you have overseen the integration in practice yourself?  Has every integration you have done worked seamlessy?

        Hi Advdis2023 ,

As an employee from MYOB, I have overseen several implementations, with similar feedback as above, basic implementations (ie just syncing invoices and customers) are pretty straightforward. In more complex settings, ie that need manufacturing setups, the use of the onboarding team is super helpful to iron our nay settings problems

  • Hey Jayemee,

    Have recently implamented the program.

I think it has some strong points but its also lacking in a couple areas.

Intergration into MYOB was easy enough, but depending on your knowledge you will need to use thier onboarding service to fine tune how to want it to work.

Their online help page has been ok, but some of the infomation is outdated, so teaching and learning yourself can be a pain.

Their helpdesk personnel are amazing to deal - i have currently dealt with (Cheryl, Lisa and Dan) all are amazing but the main helpdesk email respone time have been 50/50 - some times i get a repsonse in 10min and others its been 5-6 days.

I am yet to fully learn the forecast system that tallemu provide, but i am also quite interesting in this function.

Any other questions let me know :D

Over the last month they changed the way Tall Emu integrates with MYOB, it has been awful. We have only had 1 out of the last 35 days with sync working "seamlessly". For anyone looking to expand CRM/ERP capabilities, I would recommend steering clear of Tall Emu and possibly relocating away from MYOB to an all-in-one system. All these types of systems seem to have issues that you need to accept but Tall Emu takes the cake!

Tall Emu was a terrible experience for me. Every existing customer duplicated, it could not allocate payments. It cost me close to $2k in onboarding monthly fees, months of trialing and it it never worked.

I was mainly using it to link to my Woocommerce site. Which it did well, but the ironic thing was syncing to MYOB.

MyIntegrator linked my website to MYOB and was working in a weekend. I use B14Cloud to get data out of MYOB. Plus use Starshipit for packing slips & shipping. Bit of a Frankenstein but it works unlike Tall Emu which promised the World and delivered an atlas.

Hope that helps people with their solutions.

In all my research I could not find anyone really singing Tall Emus praises.

UPDATE: Tall Emu finally seem to have mostly fixed the sync after over a month of frustration and impacted business. It is fixed to the point where it is usable and not impacting the ability to run our business day to day. I still stand behind the comment on an all-in-one system. We have been with Tall Emu for almost 2 years and the majority of our issues have been linked to two systems trying to talk to each other, In our time we have had (and occasionally continue to have) data being duplicated, completely wiped out, being different in one system to the other (currently our balances are completely different in the two systems, we can only rely on MYOB as Tall Emu balances are just plain wrong for a number of our customers).

Tall Emu promised that we would save time on repetitive admin tasks with their platform. If we didn't factor the time in that we spend troubleshooting and fixing issue that Tall Emu causes, we would be very happy. But factoring in the countless hours, days, months and years that issues have taken our time to fix or wait for fixes we probably haven't saved any time, it has probably cost us time or at best left us in the same position we were in without spending thousands of dollars a year on an additional platform and the stress that has come along with it...

We continue to use Tall Emu and continue to work with some great people on the Tall Emu team in the hope that things will improve in the years ahead. As a system it isn't there yet, if you are looking for a CRM/ERP would recommend you hold off on signing up for Tall Emu or look for another system until things improve.

      • We have been using Tall Emu for over 2 years and have had similar disappointing issues created since MYOB have purchased Tall Emu. We are still waiting for a Xero integration issue to be solved, which occurred with an enforced change in Feb 2024. Considering the software is all about customer relations, the customer service provided by Tall Emu is extremely poor, with no understanding of the impact on their customers business's. Getting a resolution or talking to some one who can assist is virtually impossible and very frustrating. Emus are relatives of ostriches, which are known to put their head in the sand.

      Hi PowerMax Tom

Our company has been with Tall Emu for 3 years and have had ongoing issues, but always managed a work around.  But since they switched on the AUTO SYNCING with MYOB we have had no stop issues and I have HelpDesk Tickets that have been open for 3 months and unresolved!

I think the CRM capabilities are great on their own, but integration with MYOB is terrible.  Plus the non-communication from Tall Emu just makes running a small business day to day painstaking.  We are certainly thinking about jumping ship!

Have you changed to an ALL-IN-ONE System?  Would loved to know what you recommend?

      Thanks

        Hey Natalie,

No, still with Tall Emu and still having issues with reliability with the MYOB sync and Tall Emu Customer Support (we have unresolved tickets that are close to 2 years old). I'd recommend holding off on jumping ship for a bit longer though if you are currently with them. I've made some friends over at Tall Emu that I trust, they seem to think that there are significant changes in the pipeline that will hopefully see things improve soon. Only time will tell.

If we don't see things improve by the end of the year, we would be looking to relocate.

If you do need support with anything other than the current MYOB Bugs and would like a response sooner than 3 months I am happy to help, although judging by the fact you are still with Tall Emu after the last couple of years of pain (and the last 6 months of hell) I'm guessing you are pretty good with finding workarounds and are just frustrated like us by the things that have no workaround and aren't getting addressed quickly enough, if at all!

  • We have been using Tall Emu for 5 months.

In concept it is great and has streamlined our quoting, supplier purchasing and invoicing. In practice we have had periods plagued by MYOB sync. errors that sometimes last for hours, sometimes for days. This is incredibly frustrating. We are in the middle of one now that has had us intermittently disconnected over 3 days.

We can invoice/receive payments in Tall Emu then not have the data transferred to MYOB which prevents us from allocating bank deposits etc. I believe reverting back to invoicing in MYOB would throw stock levels out because Tall Emu is now the stock "master" and the sync is only one way.

Tall Emu is not yet up to the reliability standards of AccountRight and ironically, given it is now an MYOB product, its biggest weakness is its MYOB integration.

We will see out the subscription period, having put a lot of time and effort into learning the system, and decide then whether to continue then.

      Hi simonk2,

Thank you for sharing your experience. I understand how frustrating it must be to face intermittent MYOB sync errors, especially when it impacts your workflow for days. We apologise for the inconvenience caused. Sometimes, clearing the cache, checking for the latest updates or reviewing your network connection can fix the issue.

      Regards,

We have gone through the same Frustration, but it has been an ongoing issue for close to 2 years :(

You probably would have seen the Email that Mike Nash is re-acquiring Tall Emu, and it will no longer be a MYOB owned company. I have had a bit to do with Mike over the last couple of years, and I am pretty confident he will be able to turn things around.

He's a bit of a madman re-acquiring a company that has had a lot of bad reviews and bugs since the MYOB acquisition, but that speaks to his confidence of being able to make things right for Tall Emu Customers who have endured the painful issues.

I imagine it will take a bit of time, but I'm hoping for good things in the near future.

It seems we are getting way less sync. errors now and consequentially much less frustration. I think TE is back on track.

  • Like many of you we have had a lot of integration issues wht the Tall Emu-MYOB integration. However, we now find T/E is back on track with Mike at the lead and we are confident that any outstanding issues will be resolved. MYOB was largely responsible for many of our issues not T/E.

Has anyone had a solution for the rounding issue between TE and MYOB? I read somewhere online that changing the decimal place precision in TE to match MYOB cpis a fix but would like to know if anyone can confirm

  • Our issues with TE rounding was caused by this difference in precision between MYOB and TE. Mostly now it has sorted this issue out.

Thanks Kelvin, Did you have to manually adjust the precision settings with MYOB or TE or was this fixed by TE behind the scenes ?

      • Yes we had to manually change the settings to match. Tall Emu seems to have improved their support massively recently and I suggest you reach out to them, they have resolved issues very quickly recently for us.

  • Hi Karben,

You change the price precision in Tall Emu under the ADMIN / GENERAL menu.  Below is a screenshot of where it is.  This will match TE to MYOB so you shouldn't have to change anything in MYOB.

Just to clarify, we currently have the price precision setting in TE set at 2, are you saying we should change this to 4 so that it matches with MYOB
      ?

      • That is what worked for us.  Our default MYOB price precision was 4 and changing the TE price precision from 2 to 4 solved the issue.  But talk to TE support about it if you have concerns.
