Deleting a deduction in Tax

With the new 2019 update, obviously the Deductions are now all part of a single deductions schedule.

If I want to remove say the D3: Work-related clothing, laundry and dry cleaning expenses, how can I remove it without having to delete and re-do my entire deductions schedule.

I have tried removing the line with the red x, which deletes the amount and the claim code but the type (description) remains and I cannot get rid of it. Which then means I cannot validate my return as it says I need to enter the amount at D3.

  • Hello alexDGZ

    Thanks for your question!

Unfortunately, the only way around this issue is to delete the Deductions schedule. We're currently having a look into this, and once it's resolved and tested, it will be in the following update. I've created a Service Request for you if you ever want to follow up on this issue. I will Private Message the job number to you directly.

  • Hi alexDGZ,

I've just been testing this to send of to our development team - and have found the steps you'll need to do to remove the item.

You were on the right track!  just one little bit missing.  Heres your steps you need:

    1. Open the Deductions schedule and go to item D3 (or from the Deductions tab, click Label C at Item D3)
    2. ensure the Claim is highlighted (like in my example)
    3. press the Red X on the Toolbar
    4. Hit the Tab key on your keyboard
you will notice that the text in the 'Type' field is now removed

    Hope this helps!
