in doing a journal entry why is an account not able to be used

HI All I am completing the tranaction journal as per the accountant. One of the accounts to be used will not come up in the drop down. Is there a reason for this? What is the solution so I can use i...

Hi Doreen

Thank you for you suggestion.

Unfortunately this account does not allow me to change it from active to inactive as this area is "greyed out" and inactive.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated

Thanks for your post. As per the screenshot, you will use the account 3-9000 for Current Year Earnings however even though you already set the account to be a Detail Account, the Inactive Account is still greyed out it is because the account 3-9000 Current Year Earnings is a Systems Account so entry cannot be posted on that account. I highly suggest to select a different account. To know which account to use, kindly speak with your accountant or financial advisor as they can provide you which account to use. Let me know how it goes.
