Migrating Budget Data from Desktop to Browser

When I make adjustments to my budget in Accountright desktop the revised figures are not carrying across to the web browser version. Do I have to manually adjust the web browser or is there some way migrate the data between the two programs.

  • Hi Pagee,

Thank you so much for your post and welcome to the Community Forum!

My apologies for the late response. The budget setup in the AccountRight browser interface differs slightly from that in the Desktop application. Consequently, entering budget data in one platform will not automatically synchronize with the other.

In theory, it is possible to export the budget from the Desktop application in CSV format and manipulate it to match the required file format for the browser. Below are the steps involved:

    1. In the AccountRight desktop file, navigate to File >> Import/Export Assistant.
    2. Choose Export Data >> Accounts - Budgets.
    3. Opt to separate data using commas.
    4. Select the relevant fields for export.
    5. Open the exported file in the browser.
    6. Go to Reporting >> Reports >> Budget Management.
    7. Choose Create Budget and enter the necessary information.
    8. Select Export to CSV.
    9. Open both exports in Excel.
    10. Manipulate the data from the AccountRight file to populate the Browser export.
    11. Save the browser export file.
    12. Return to the browser and import the manipulated data using Import >> CSV option.

Please do let me know how you go on this.
    Regards,
    Earl

Hi  Ive tried your step-by-step below, to import a desktop budget to browser version.  I have issues with Step 8, as its not letting me export the blank budget from browser to use as a template to adjust and re-import to the browser.

Also, step 5 created a TXT file, so I can resave this as a CSV this does this work for reimporting?

    Hi RINkel,

Thanks for posting. Begin by clearing the cache and cookies in your browser, then try the process again. If you've been following the steps as given, you should be able to create a CSV file during the 8th step. For additional help, there's an informative article on working with budgets.
