Inventory Custom Fields

Sorry if this has been asked before, I have tried searching for a solution but didn't find

Our company has over 10000 stock lines and we use the legacy MYOB desktop AccountRight Premier (ie NOT the cloud version)

We use the Custom Fields in Item Details to sort the items on our website into Brand, Make, Catogory etc as per attachment

I am playing around with a trial version of new program but cannot see these features anywhere, do they still exist? Without them we are unable to "upgrade" to the cloud version

  • Hi - I came across this and thought it might be worth mentioning another option, particularly with 10,000+ stock lines.

Full disclosure, I'm with Tall Emu. We're Australian business software that integrates with MYOB, but handles much more of the operational side - inventory, purchasing, sales orders, CRM, warehouse, freight etc.

We work with wholesalers and distributors that want to keep MYOB for the accounting side, but have reached the point where managing a large product catalogue and the processes around it in MYOB is getting difficult.

I also noticed your comment about having another program sitting between MYOB and your website. That's something we'd be happy to have a look at too. We do custom development and integrations where required, so you're not necessarily limited to what the software does out of the box.

I'm obviously biased, but with 10,000+ stock lines it might be worth having a look at Tall Emu before putting too much work into trying to make the existing setup do more.

Happy to answer any questions if it's of interest.

    Hi GPS_Imports,

Thanks for adding the screenshot, that helps a lot! What you’re showing there is the Item Details tab in AccountRight desktop, where you’ve used the item custom lists.

Yes, that feature still exists in AccountRight. Custom item lists and custom item fields are still available in the desktop app, and they’re still the right option when you want to categorise inventory items beyond the standard fields. Please see these helpful articles for detailed guidance: Custom item lists and Custom item fields

If you can’t see the same setup in the newer browser experience, that’s likely because some inventory features don’t appear there in the same way. So for this kind of setup, you’ll generally need to keep using the desktop app.

    Regards,
    Earl
