Employee returning from Parental Leave on reduced hours

Hi   I have an employee returning from Parental Leave soon. This employee was on 40hrs per week but is now reducing to 20hrs per week for about 3 months. Would I just reduce their hours/weeks setu...

    Hi Jumo2015 

    You are correct - you would reduce the hour/week setup for the time period the employee is working 20 hours per week, then increase it up again when the hours increase again. The system will re-calculate the leave owing, so don't be alarmed that the annual leave right might be mich higher than the ordinary rate of pay. However as this employee has returned from maternity leave, then the leave owing might not be much as there has been a period of no earnings. There is a support note on how to pay annual leave when returning from parental leave - as quite often this is well below the ordinary rate of pay - and can take up to 12 months to return to normal. Any leave still owing from prior to going on parental leave is ring fenced, and paid at the avg rate when they went on parental leave. Go to this link for support note.
