I too am having the same problem recording purchases and it has extended to recording through the spend and receive money under Banking.
I have done the workaround as shown by AndrewsA and it worked a couple of times but no longer. I would be grateful if anyone has any other solutions, as this is getting really frustrating.

everyone needs to call MYOB direct...they do not read this forum. 1300 555 123 or email the support team...i've done this four, five, six times and get a response with differing results...I'm up to the tenth time of backup, cache empty, uninstall, download SE & PC etc etc etc
