Sales/Purchases: Indication of where on screen cursor is

It would be great if a user could easily recognise where the cursor is when entering Sale & Purchase Transactions Lines.

At the present time it is difficult to quickly identify where the cursor is awaiting a value in a transaction line or even if the cursor is in a transaction line ready to accept input as the transaction is completely filled with the MYOB purple colour.

It would be a great idea if a user can easily identify that he/she is in a transaction line and what field in that transaction line is awaiting input from the user.

In the attached example of a 'Purchases Type Bill - Item Layout' screen there is a clue where the cursor is awaiting input.  Can you recognise it?

If you can then you have done well, but the same clue is unavailable in a 'Purchases Type Bill - Service Layout' screen.

"Where am I?"

HI Tony - thanks for the suggestion. It does get lost in the purple doesn't it! How have you seen this done in other programs that you like? BTW everyone - don't forget to vote for the ideas you like -we need to understand the way the community ranks these fantastic ideas.

    The KIS treatment works!

Fill it with whitespace and have the cursor flashing in it...

We have done some work in the grids - particulary with drop downs and tabbing out for 2012.7. We are having a look at this for 2012.9. Hope you like it.

Hope you like the changes we have made in the grids, particularly with drop-downs and tabbing out. The changes have been made as part of the next update for AccountRight 2012 - version 2012.9. The update is available on November 9. Thanks again for your feedback.

Once again, half a solution!  I'm using the latest AR2012 (V12.9), downloaded this morning.  Myob have changed the entry grid to show white instead of purple in the particular field that the cursor is in.  All well and good - except that the program is still slow and doesn't keep up with the position of the cursor as you tab across, so unless you sit and wait for it you still don't know what field you're in.

For all the good it's done, you might as well have done nothing!!!!

  • Elves, sorry to hear that the performance of AccountRight 2012 has not met your expectations since installing the update. We have received positive feedback from many clients that the latest update provided significant performance improvements as well as easier and faster data entry. Please be assured that improving the speed and performance of the software remains a priority for our product development team. We will be doing more work in future updates, which will be released regularly.

    All the best,

  • Elves, I should have also mentioned that we are happy to assist you to get the most out of your software. Are you still running the software on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit using an AMD Athlon 2GHz PC with 8GB RAM? Our developers do recommend a faster processor to improve performance, but you might also get benefits from following the tips on the Support Note called

Speeding up your Computer for AccountRight.

    Thanks again,
