Tax Return Error V2804

Tax return validation error code V2804 stating private health policy amounts are correct. However the amounts are exactly as per the statement. I am thinking the error may be coming up because the J and K amounts are both the same, however this is what the prefill & statements both show.

Is there a solution so we can have the return and completed and lodged for the client?

Thanks,

James

The validation error you are receiving on that return is saying that the taxpayer's Private Health Insurance (PHI) rebate cannot be the same as the PHI premium. I suspect that the Private Health insurer has made a mistake on the figures that have been provided both in the statement to the taxpayer, and the information sent to the ATO, as having the premium and rebate the same would mean the PHI would be free.

I would suggest asking the taxpayer to confirm the details with the insurer, as well as ask the insurer to update the information sent to the ATO. If the ATO does not receive updated information, their Notice of Assessment will calculate that excess rebate was provided, and a rebate reduction will be added.

In the instance that the insurer advises the figures are correct, you will need to discuss with the ATO, as the rebate cannot be the same as the premium.
